If you could have any artists isntrument, which would it be?

Re: If you could have any artists isntrument, which would it be?

I already have Dimebag's guitar.

I've set up my les paul enough for it to be considered Zakk Wylde's instrument.

I don't like Dave Mustaine's old King V and Y2KV models because of the location of the neck joint.

Just give me a regular Gibson Explorer and I'll be happy. :D

Re: If you could have any artists isntrument, which would it be?

1: Randy Rhoads Sandoval v
2: evh:s frankenstrat
3: Ace Frehleys cherryburst LP custom from the 70´s

Thought of another, John McLaughlin's late 80's Wechter nylon string acoustic with the synth-interface (PHOTON I think it was), what a BEAUTIFUL sounding axe (without the synth!)

And one of the old Wechter built Shakti axes

It'd be quite a display piece, don't think I could play it though because of one thing: SCALLOPED FRETBOARDS HURT!!!!!! :saeek: :eek5:

I have too many to choose from but the top two would be owned both by James Hetfield...

His "Kustom Kulture" ESP Eclipse...

there are more guitars i'd love to own but these two of Hetfield's just fit me well visually and what i give to play them to see how they feel!!

I'll take Zakk's beat up original "Grail" since it's not taken yet.

Zakks Les Paul. Whoops, I already did! :laugh2:

For my own personal enjoyment, it would be hard to beat the clean simplicity of Seymour's Esquire:

Re: If you could have any artists isntrument, which would it be?

There are SO MANY...

Pearly Gates
JB's Tele-Gib
one of Princes Honers
Claptons 58 from the Bluesbreakers
Buzz Osbourns 68 LP w/ kiss sticker
Duane Denisons TB w/ lace sensor
Jamez 73 Custom looks too cool
one of Thurston's Jazzmasters
one of Lee's Jazzblasters
J Mascis' Sparkle blue Esquire
Peter Green's Paul
Nancy
Kim Thyail's black and white Guild
Albini's TB 500
One of Brian's 6120's
Joe Perry's lefty, burned, beat strat with Bardens

A smaller list would be
One of Billy G's guitars (they ALL would have a mojo)
One of Jeff's Tele's(all killer axes')
Joe Perry's lefty, burned, beat strat with Bardens( I HATE strats, and I love this guitar...it has so much to say!)

P.S. Gary tried to GIVE Peter his LP back and Peter does not want it...it has too many bad memories he says.

Re: If you could have any artists isntrument, which would it be?

Id like to have one of Earl Scruggs' pre-war Mastertones.
And Trey Anastasio's axe.

Dweezil Zappa's Cow Print guitar. I actually bought Dweezil's 5149 1/2 Shamer a few months back, but the one I REALLY wanted wasn't for sale. The Shamer is the sweetest sounding and playing guitar I've ever owned! Still, I like the Cow Print. Why I don't know....

There is some point here I think. I always wondered about the thing when someone's playing stunned me: is it the tool ot is it the man behind? For a long time I thought it depends mainly on the tool. Now I think it totally depends on the player. It is the music that made famous McCartney's Höfner, Lennon's Epiphone, Hendrix's Strat and so on. You get a nice Les Paul mod it and - BANG! - you just have a Jimmy Page LP. That's why authentic artist axe re-issues strange for me. Guys at Fender measure SRV's #001 to the last scratch. Okey. But hey, will them guys re-create the hand and soul of SRV? Definitely, no. A tone and an axe lives while the player lives who gives soul to the instrument. That is the beauty of the guitar - and that's the scary thing in it. As Chris Cornell wrote, "no one sings like you anymore".

Okay, :offtopic: :hijacked: :lame: :dammit:

My pick would be Brian May's Red Special with all the electronics/amplification. His tone is a full mistery for me. I have heard many distant imitations but none is close, not even if you get a Burns, an AC30 and his treble booster and all the revealed playing tricks.

An another would be Billy Gibbon's "Delta" guitar that was made of Muddy Waters' childhood house roof... :cool3:

Re: If you could have any artists isntrument, which would it be?

hetfield's old white gibson explorer

Re: If you could have any artists isntrument, which would it be?

Well even though i would not want another strat, but in this case, i'd want billie joe armstrongs, stratocaster "Blue". that thing is stickered and beat to death and im surea gibson les paul would sounds better but its the sentimental value of it!
