ES-335 and a Fender Twin . . . with a 535Q wah, Boss BD-2, Chorus Pedal, Some kind of delay, and maybe a phaser. Might try another different overdrive pedal too.

I am going to assume you meant one guitar/one amp. For me it's a total no brainer.

This is damn near the most perfect rig possible....but I'll create a contrasting one...

If I could have a Gibson ES-335, a Fulltone Fulldrive, and a Fender Bassman LTD, I'd be set for anything I needed to do.

Well, I'm quite happy with what I have now but one that I would be happy with....

Guitar: Ernie Ball Music Man EVH/Axis
Amp: Zinky Blue Velvet with extension cab
Pedals: MXR Phase 90, Chorus, Delay, Wah of some sort, maybe a few others to move in and out. This doesn't count my DIY pedals.

You almost HAVE to have 2 guitars so my homemade Frankenstrat ("Franky") has to be included.

That's quite a versatile setup. You could do just about anything you'd ever need to with it.

My JV Strat - Soon to have some new aftermarket pups and wooden pickguard. It's a keeper I think - plenty of mojo and it sounds great even with the stock tex-mex pickups.

Bogner Duende or Shiva combo - I was lusting after a Shiva, but the Duende is a more managable 18 watts, and it's more likely I'd be able to crank it to get some sweet tone.

Gibson Goldtop Les Paul - P90s, 'nuff said.

Pedals:

Vox Wah - with mods for two inductors and truebypass
Keely Java Boost - a very nice treble booster
Electro Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man - very nice sounding pedal, I spent almost an hour playing one at L&M.
Electro Harmonix Big Muff Pi or Double Muff - only played the BMP, but I'd like to try the double muff.

That's about it... I'm not really big on any other effects. Maybe a whammy pedal, but I'd likely use that more as a novelty than anything. Maybe a dedicated rackmount delay unit would be useful, but definetely not necessary for me.

damn thats tough. it would be a tough choice between my strat and my ibanez sz. but once i got past that, some sort of fender amp (celtic brenna, maybe) and some sort of overdrive/ distortion (the new sd pedal, maybe).

Word. It would be a challenge to get a pure jazz tone with the Strat, but other than that you're right. You could go with a 335 instead if you leaned more in that direction, and still have some killer rock tones.

Splawn Quick rod
Splawn 4x12 & 2x12

a wah, overdrive, buffer, hotplate for turning it down a bit when needed


and .. that would pretty much be it
