If you could only have one pedal

Re: If you could only have one pedal

Depends on the amp, but either a boost of some type (boost, od, compressor), or a wah if the amp has enough gain.

Re: If you could only have one pedal

Have to be my crybaby, couldn't live without it, even if I'm not using it in a set I have it, it's like my safety blanket!

Re: If you could only have one pedal

What are the odds that 2 44 year old dudes would register and both make their first posts in this thread...

Re: If you could only have one pedal

There's so many to choose from, personally I'd say it's partially dependant on the amp your using.. For instance I use a jet city 100HDM and Vox Valvetronix AD120VTH, the jet city is good for your standard rock, but not so great on cleans (atleast compared to the Vox), and doesn't have reverb so it'd have to TC Electronic Hall of Fame

But the Vox is a pretty good all rounder so then I'd have to say just my custom modded crybaby cause I'd be lost without it!

Re: If you could only have one pedal

The one pedal. .. It is one I will always regret selling. A Damage Control glass nexus. It is just truly exceptional and inspiring.

Re: If you could only have one pedal

Or if it was a drive pedal. My keeley modded bd2 blues driver.. Another one I regret selling :(

Re: If you could only have one pedal

I've gone through a lot of good stuff over the years. Obvious choice for me is the ST-200 Turbo Tuner by Sonic Research.

More fun answers include Maxon AD999 analog delay (easily my favorite delay I've tried) or the new Cornish SS-3 I've acquired. I suppose I could live without delay given the reverb on my Fenders, so SS-3 wins this one for me.

Re: If you could only have one pedal

Probably a TC Electronic Alter Ego or a Strymon delay of some kind. Though I suppose they are sort of on the line of being almost multi effects.

If that's the case, then some kind of tape echo pedal. Maybe one of the Catalinbread ones. I cant live without a decent, modulated sounding delay. It's the bread and butter of every guitar tone I put together, even in jazz settings.

Re: If you could only have one pedal

I can't live without my EP Booster, but I also can't imagine not having some reverb or delay, so probably Catalinbread Bellepoch.

I've never played it, but on paper it's a winner. Echoplex based delay and buffered mode almost ideally recreating echoplex preamp properties.

Re: If you could only have one pedal

The belle epoch is 7 parts away from having an awesome clean boost function, but IMO the echoplex buffer alone is worth the price of admission.

Having owned both a Mythical Overdrive (with the Klon buffer) and a Madbean Fatpants I prefer the transistor-based high voltage buffer to the IC-based one.

I probably already answered but again, a good clean boost with that echoplex or SHO flavor is a must.
