If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

Re: If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

Tuner, at least a couple of od's for different flavors, delay, reverb if none on amp.

Re: If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

I think you need to give a budget or maximum number of pedals otherwise its all just rather academic.

"ideally" I'd have probably 6 or 7 fuzz pedals, 4 OD's, 5 distortions etc and thats just for dirt. Not realistic though for most anyone so I think if you dont want it to read like a bunch of guitarist wet dreams have a size/quantity or cost limit.

I guess if I could have one and only one pedal though it would be the RMC3 wah.

Re: If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

Tuner - Wah - OD - Amp Channel Switcher

Re: If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

Tuners are a *must* that everyone should have. It's an essential tool, pedalboard or no pedalboard.

That said, for me, a nice overdrive, possibly a wah (but not necessary for me), amp footswitch. Anything else and I may as well be tap dancing. I like to keep it simple.

Re: If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

If I had the right amp the only pedal I would really NEED would be a tuner.

Now, on my pedal board right this minute is an Analog.Man King Of Tone, Analog.Man Beano Boost, RMC Picture Wah, Fulltone Ultimate Octave and my EP-3 Echoplex...and a tuner!

That said, my pedal set up is subject to change at any minute...I always adding and subtractiung from it looking for a specific colour or sound.

strobostomp
budda wah
route 66
crucible fuzz
AC-Plex
Psilocybe
Tsunami

Re: If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

Voodolabs ground control ,Ibanez Weeping demon (check) ,Strobo Stomp 2 ,2 expresion pedals ,one for whammy ,1 for volume...and a Lehle AB switch.

Re: If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

Tuner..yes but not on the pedal board. My bassist and I use the same tuner everytime.
Wah>Chorus>Phase 90>Flanger>AMP.
Delay and HUSH in the loop...........

Re: If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

Korg DT-10
CM Compressor
CM Fullshred Drive
CM Delayla
Rocktron Tsunami.

That would give me alot of options :)

Re: If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

tuner, acoustic simulator, bad monkey, metal muff ... before amp

chorus, flanger, reverb ... in the loop

channel switcher

that will be all when I get my new head.

Re: If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

I'm mulling over putting together my ideal pedal board in 2008. I'm looking at a loop-master double loop switcher with a master bypass and tuner out, then having a couple loops. I know I'll have an Original Crybaby, Bad Horsie II, Boss CS-3, and a Boss TU-2. I'm looking into a couple dirt boxes, including a Duncan Lava Box, and possibly keeping a tremolo pedal. Trying not to go overboard, but I'll also likely look into a chorus.

Re: If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

Alright, ready for this?

Board:
Angled (wedge shape) so power supplies and power strip can be hidden underneath. Pedal Power 2 and Pedal Power AC for common supplies, strip for unique adapters

Pedals:
Compressor (Analogman Bi-Comp)
Wah (RMC3, ZVex SeekWah)
Volume Pedal
FoxRox CC2 (Vibe, Octavia, Hot Silicon fuzz card)
Fuzzes (Analogman NKT Ge Sun Face, Peppermint Fuzz)
OD (Way Huge Red Llama, Keeley TS808)
Muff (Plug and Play Skreddy of the day, Mayonaise, Zero or Pink Flesh, Way Huge Swollen Pickle)
Phasers (Script Phase 45, ProphecySound Infinitphase, Small Stone w/ issues fixed or Red Witch modified, EHX Wiggler)
Flangers (Electric Mistress, Ibanez DFL or just a Lovetone ? Flanger)
Chorus (Boss CE-2, DC-2)
Boost (Analogman Beano Boost and/or BYOC Tri-Boost)
Delays (Deluxe Memory Man w/ pedal controlled delay time, Line 6 DL4, Boss DM-3 on a stand for self oscillation manipulation)
Tremolo (Duncan Shape Shifter, ZVex SeekTrem)
Reverb (Fender tank)
Peterson Rack Strobe

Switching system somewhere between a TB looper, GCX Ground Control and a Cornish System including an A/B/Y amp selector.

Tech to do my switching so I don't have to tap dance. ;)

Excessive? Of course. Fun? Oh yes. :D

Re: If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

I'm simple in this respect, so I think I already have my ideal board.

TU-2 tuner>
Morley volume>
Crybaby wah>
Rocktron Austin Gold OD>
Tubeworks Blue Tube>

4 flavors of amp/pedal gain, volume and a wah. I'm happy.

Re: If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

i am putting together a modest board now .. bet i'll regret it :D

my custom switcher / router by pedalboard junction
tu-2 tuner
535Q wah
mamabear

maybe an sfxx-01 booster (still torn if i want to do it in a pedal or on the amp ... will prolly do the pedal

cant decide if i want to have time based effects in pedals or not .. i have not had any time based effects in a few years and have been fine without them ... but as any geer tweaker in good standing, i just cant leave well enough alone

we'll see

Re: If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

If I had my ideal amp setup to go with it, it'd look something like this...

Tuner
Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster
Teese Picture Wah
Fuzz Pedal (Fuzz Face with switchable octave)
Analogman Beano Boost
Phase 90 Clone
ADA Flanger
KR Megavibe with speed Foot Controller
Fulltone Tube Tape Echo

From here, one side of the TTE goes to a Voxish amp set for a distortion that cleans up, and the other side goes to a Tweed Bassman/Plexi/Hiwatt thing. Between the Fulltone and the amps is a Tube Reverb unit.

Re: If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

LaPortaFX Hammerhead
DS-1
Tweak Fuzz
Crybaby
Line 6 DL4
EH Small Stone
Leslie simulator
Trem of some type
Boss DD-6
Digitech Digidelay
Reverb of some type, probably 2
Whammy

Re: If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

I haven't figured out what actual pedals correspond to my desires, or if they even exist, so I'll just say what I want. If you know what pedal(s) fit my description, feel free to tell me.

-Notchy, smooth resonant vintage wah.
-Subtle, squashy compressor, aggressive smashing comp/sustainer.
-Light/hazy OD, chimy/gritty OD, crunchy/raunchy distortion, thick, snarly sustaining fuzz.
-Clean, subtle, vowel-like 70's style phaser.
-Swirly, suble, chimy, vowel-like flanger.
Or, custom pedal that combines both in stereo using only the modulated line of each but with a dry blend knob to adjust the swoosh.
-Chorus that sounds like a cross between the Small Clone and CE-2, but with the motionless dual voice technology of the Dimension D.
-Tap tremolo with an asymmetrical wave and a bit of swirl, like the old amp effects.
-At least one delay pedal. This is where I get tricky. I want a pedal with as much analog circuitry as possible that sounds like an Echoplex while offering tap tempo and a simple modulation like the Edge uses. I also want foot controls for level, feedback, mod, clarity, tap tempo, and either switchable multi-taps or the ability to tap out three different repeats. They should be rollers like on the Boomerang.
-And, a sweet reverb that does cool things like the Line6 one.
