If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

Re: If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

I'd have Pete Cornish do it for me. It would look a lot like Gilmour's rig.

Re: If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

I prefer ME-50 or Boss GT Pro with a FC-200, but if I had to use a pedal board and individual pedals:

1) Boss BD-2 Blues Driver
2) Ibanez Tube Screamer
3) Boss MT-2 Metal Zone
4) Boss OD-2
5) Boss Chorus Ensemble
6) Boss Tremolo
7) Two Boss delay pedals (one of both)
8) Cry Baby wah/volume (due to reputation. I haven't sampled them yet)
9) Boss EQ pedal (in case I want to use it as a solo boost)
10) Rotary pedal (not sure from whom)
11) Fuzz Face
12) Boss Compressor pedal
13) Boss Noise Gate (probably would be on 24/7)
14) Tuner (not sure which)

Re: If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

I'm more than happy with a Les Paul into a Strobe Tuner into a Marshallesque amp. Everything else is just for fun.

Re: If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

I've got it pretty much figured out.

This is what I've got (which is over 1/2 the battle anyhow)
Pro Analog Supaquack wah
Lovekraft Mojo Drive
Clay Jones OD (in my perfect world I'd have more than one)
Peterson Strobostomp 2 *the quality of the jacks are still shoddy though, so I'm thinking of hardwiring the bastard
GoudieFX Crystal Boost
VHT Valvulator and PP 2+ power supplies

This is what I'm looking at:
BJF Honey Bee (on my "to try" list, but it does sound like it's up my alley)
Magnatone vibrato clone (I love my Red Witch Pentavocal, but I've always heard wonders about the "Maggie" sound, so I'd love to try onea myself)
Eventide TimeFactor w/ MIDI controller (ultimate delay from the looks of things, I'd love to have one)

This is stuff that I may or may not keep:
Planet Waves Tru-Strobe Tuner
Analogman KOT V4
Radial PB-1 Big Shot
DLS Echotap
Red Witch Pentavocal Trem

In a perfect world, I'll take a nod from a few other responses here and go with Pete Cornish on the design of the board/power supply/tube buffering etc.

Re: If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

I've got to admit if you took away the rest of my pedals and left just my Teese RMC3 wah, Chicago Iron Octavia, Roger Mayer Axis fuzz and Sweetsound Mojo Vibe I could still probably live out a pretty happy life.

Got to figure if Hendrix didn't even explore all the sonic possiblities of those pedals, and I'm lucky to be even 1/10 of the talent Jimi was, I should never fully master what they can do, especially the Octavia, that thing is trickly to get a great sound of out and even tricker to repeat

Re: If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

The way it sits right now;

Wah -> OCD

The way it'd sit right now if I had enough $$$$;

Wah -> DejaVibe -> OCD -> OCD

Re: If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

First it would be a quality board like an SKB, etc. One with power outlets and conditioner. Then I would start with a Wah>Tuner>Phaser>Chorus>Uni-Vibe>Distortion>OD>Delay/Echo>EQ. The manufacturers depend on preference. My Wah, Uni-Vibe(Deja-Vibe), and OD are by Fulltone. My Tuner, and Chorus are Boss. I also have a Boss Flanger and an older Boss Phaser that aren't part of my setup right now. My Phaser, and EQ are MXR. My Echo is a old DOD. My distortion is a Line 6 Uber Metal. Something else you need is a Planet Waves pedal board patch cable kit. You make to the size you need. Low noise. Good Luck

Re: If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

Just curious as to your pedal order Chuck, why the distortion before the OD ?

I've always found all the distortion pedals I've owned to respond really well to an OD in front kicking them a bit harder when the need comes up.

I see you've got your in reverse though so I'm curious to hear your experiences about that.

Also what are your thoughts on the vibe pedal before the dirt ? Ive been experimening with mine and I've found I like it after I think so it can give the "throb" to the disorted signal. I'm intrested to hear of your experience though

Re: If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

I think umm maybe
Pickup Booster or some form off buffer that can be switched off with true bypass (so it doesn't mess with the treble booster) > Treble Booster > Teese Wah (Probably RMC2) > Modded SD-1 > Indyguitarist Pinnacle 2 > MXR 10 Band EQ > Quaser > BOSS FZ-2 or EHX Little Big Muff > EHX Electric Mistress Chorus/Flange > SMM w Hazarai. Thats a more complex one (all set up with loopers and A/BY Boxes). For simplier set up maybe just booster/buffer > Teese Wah > SD-1 > Pinnacle 2 > EQ > Quaser > SMM w Hazarai.

Re: If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

I've got a pretty good pedal setup right now... though I'd like to change the DS-1 for a Keeley Ultra/SEM version.

If I REALLY wanted to go all-out I'd just get a TC G-System and have fun with the various setups I could do with that thing.

FTR my rig is Guitar ---> Boss TU2 > Crybaby 535QF > Fulltone OCD > Boss DS1 > Boss DD20 Gigadelay > Line 6 MM4 ----> amp.

Re: If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

Mine is currently like this:

Area 51 Wah - Teese Wizard - Peterson Strobostomp mk1 - Keeley Fuzz Head - Crunchbox - Boss Chorus into front of amp.

Boss DD3 - Mxr Micro Amp into loop.

The Boss pedals will be replaced when I can afford it and I'll probably get a Keeley Boost to replace the MXR. Other than that the only pedal I'd like is a Barber tone Press.

Re: If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

providing the amp has reverb, which my ideal amp would:

*Snarling Dogs Wonder Wah
*Bad Monkey (with McLaughy mod, thanks joe!)
Delay
Line 6 modulation modeler, i couldnt just pick one or two modulation pedals.

*= already own

Re: If you had to build your ideal pedalboard

If I had to, I would cut it down to

amp < Boss DD-20 < Boss BF-3 < Boss MD-2 < guitar

Those 3 effects can be tweaked to cover practically any sound imaginable.
