I've been digging putting the tube screamer (clone) in front of the FAB OD, then running into a clean channel of an amp. the TS is maxed on the gain, whereas the FAB is only about half. the level knob of each is set so that there isn't a huge jump in volume when the pedals are on or off. tone knobs to taste.
bang....pretty cool jammin' hard blues/hard rock tone for me at low volume! very tubey, even though I'm not using it through a tube amp at the time, just a tiny SS practice amp.
