If you wire a PU straight to a volume pot w/o a tone knob does it equal better tone? If not does it sound any different? I heard this from several people including on this website jfrocks.com not sure it it’s true, just looking for anyone who’s tried the same pick up with and than without a tone knob.

Running no tone control simply means you'll have an eensy bit more high frequency content. Whether thats good or bad is subjective. For example, I run tone controls and 250k pots, even on my humbuckers. My system provides all the top end I need. For others, it would be different.

You just gotta try it and see what works for you.
