I had a 90's 59 Bassman Reissue, and it was fixed with a cold bias, had lame Emi speakers, and sounded honky and my other amps destroyed it. I sold it quickly.
Later, I had a 59 Bassman LTD. and it sounded quite a bit better with the handwired board and Jensens. It could be biased good, but still didn't knock my socks off. I sold it too.
I'm a fan, player, and collector of classic amps, and I came to the conclusion that there can be good Bassman clones out there, and original ones that sound spectacular. But I realize that it's just not my favorite tone. I'm done with them. Too loud. Too midrangey. To me, they sound like a half baked Marshall plexi with the wrong speakers, tubes, and cabinet.
On the other hand, I love other tweeds, blackfaces, Marshalls, Bogners, Vox, etc.....and anything that falls into that category.
