I had a 90's 59 Bassman Reissue, and it was fixed with a cold bias, had lame Emi speakers, and sounded honky and my other amps destroyed it. I sold it quickly.
Later, I had a 59 Bassman LTD. and it sounded quite a bit better with the handwired board and Jensens. It could be biased good, but still didn't knock my socks off. I sold it too.
I'm a fan, player, and collector of classic amps, and I came to the conclusion that there can be good Bassman clones out there, and original ones that sound spectacular. But I realize that it's just not my favorite tone. I'm done with them. Too loud. Too midrangey. To me, they sound like a half baked Marshall plexi with the wrong speakers, tubes, and cabinet.
On the other hand, I love other tweeds, blackfaces, Marshalls, Bogners, Vox, etc.....and anything that falls into that category.

New power cord with ground switch bypassed? As in they cut the ground? Doesn't seem like a smart idea.

Like the look but am not a fan of bassmans like gearjoneser... also they are sooo dry without reverb. I can't stand amps without verb

When I bought my Bassman RI back in the dark ages, I was jonesing for a Vibroverb RI. It wasn't happening for me, so I pulled in a Concert (It was in that series but not branded a RI) and A Bassman RI. The Bassman had 'it' all over that Vibroverb.
I still have the amp - albeit with a PTP tag board installed.
I too don't like a dry amp - A light reverb and a little delay sitting in the background just does it for me.

Here's a great tip for Bassmans, Plexi's, and any 4 input amp where you want reverb or delay.
Plug your guitar into Bright Input 1. Run a 6" cable from Bright 2 to a reverb or delay pedal, and plug it's output into Normal 1. It's basically allowing you to mix in some wetness from the normal channel into your direct bright channel.
I was so happy the day I discovered this. Not only does it give you some FX, it also serves to beef up the tone a little bit.
