I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

Pierre

Right now on my board I have a Fuzz, an OD, a distortion and it's still not enough! I also have the amp's OD channel which is gorgeous. I also still have 2 Distortions being built which I can't finish until I get a lower powered soldering iron and a Marshall Guvnor I'm modding to CB specs (same, can't until I get the iron). And I'm waiting for some dough to get an SD1 and a DS1 again. And all the while I couldn't care less for a delay, tremolo or chorus (especially not a chorus, yuck).

Anybody else insane like that?

Re: I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

I'm not a heavy effects user and since both my Amps are four channels and pretty different from each other i have more than enough distortion flavors.
I only have one OD Pedal, a SD-1 that was modded by LordovChaos from sevenstring.org ( i think he's also on here) and since this pedal is the most gorgeous pedal i owned so far and also has a switch for two different modes i don't need any other ODs.
But at times i was like you owning about 5 or six different OD/Distortions

Re: I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

Aye I tend to go for a simpler setup amp wise. I don't have any money and the ratio price/channel is better if you buy pedals :D I usually would use a mix of the clean and OD channels and distort/boost them. With the current pedals I have loads of options already but I want different flavors of each sound, clean, light od, med od, heavy od, distortion, metal etc...
If I get the Guvnor and the Thunderchief (OLC) working, I'll have 3 Marshall emulations on board, each that can be boosted or compressed :D The Slow Century will be the heavy metal sound, the SD1 a light OD, the route 66 TS side a heavy boost and the DS1 another light OD.

So I'd still need a clean or lighter boost :D

Re: I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

People say my setups can be confusing(especially when i still had a Vetta II) yet still you totally confuse me ;). My amps have lots of knobs and switches but i think your pedalboard would be overkill for me.
I guess you still have some tone searching to do once you get the perfect amp/s for your sound

Re: I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

The cure: Listen to any record from the 80s. One gain pedal, tons of chorus ;)

Re: I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

I came to the conclusion that guitar -> amp is where its at.

I never played a Soldano, Cornford, Bogner or Suhr amp but I'm quite satisfied with my Screamer..amps are a lot more fun than guitars :D

don't worry... i own at least 10 od/distortion pedals.... once i get around to making my new pedalboard i plan have a minimum of 4-5 OD/Dist on it..

Re: I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

I run like three...Bad Monkey for that lite boost, modded DS-1 for Marshally crunch, Double Muff for a wall of fuzz. I usually just stick to one while playing tho...never really find a need to tapdance between 'em.

Re: I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

Never use 'em...I just turn my tweed Deluxe or Deluxe Reverb amp up to "11"! LOL!

Yeah . . . I enjoyed those licks you were hitting the other night.

I use four: Duncan SFX-01 just for a little "line-drive", and then follow that up with either my Tubulator for mild, smooth tone, my Spina-fied DS-1 for over-the-top distortion, or my Bad Monkey for everything in between.

The Bad Monkey covers about 90% of my needs.

Re: I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

I'm Jonesing for the Lava Box.But till then .i stick with my Rocktron Rampage.I drive the Orange Rockverb 50 with it.And it works well.
I prefer a good hi-gain amp distortion tho.

Re: I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

Slight hikack, but snce it's in a thread started by a distortion junkie, it's worth asking:

Many say running distortion pedals is an inferior sound to using a tube amp's distortion, but what if it's an EHX English Muff'n (or any other tube dist. pedal) into a tube amp??

That means you haven't found the right OD pedal...
Who's your buddy?!
Man spreading GAS rocks!
Seriously my fav OD box so far and i'm not even thinking of getting another thing, ok maybe another one of the same just for boosting.

Re: I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

A Tubescreamer....not what ole man Pierre wants:D
And funny how that lowend JRC4558 always ends up being the holy grail of op-amps...
hehe

In the end everybody wants a TS :D (then again maybe not)
Mojo is a funny thing isn't it? I actually saw some pretty bad discutions about the JRC4558..just gets ridiculous most of the time.

Re: I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

Hehe trust me...not everybody wants one:D
Had an old 808, ts-9(80's), ts-10, boutique variant as well......none are here anymore, the ts-10 got modded back to 808 specs, we use it at work as a testpedal...and nobody likes it much...hehe

Re: I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

I love distortion pedals, too. I use a modded DS-1, a modded Tubulator, and a (less) modded Tweak Fuzz, plus the gain on my modelers.

I'm really wanting a Lava Box, and a BB Preamp.
