I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

Re: I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

Hehe trust me...not everybody wants one:D
Had an old 808, ts-9(80's), ts-10, boutique variant as well......none are here anymore, the ts-10 got modded back to 808 specs, we use it at work as a testpedal...and nobody likes it much...hehe

I was joking back there.
Personally I don't like the TS-9 nor the TS-10 the TS from maxon was the only one that I really liked.
Ontopic now:
I have my TS808 a Brown Sound In A Box II (homemade box), and a big muff, that's about it.

Re: I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

Well I will chip in as one of the Laney brethern of Pierre, a year has passed and I am still in love with Spina's mod TS9, with attenuator my AOR's pre-amp is al the way up with my TS9 in front of it, and I love it. I am however considering an MXR dist+ for it to be infront of AOR's clean channel, or maybe I will just save up for the Damage Control Demonizer, I haven't played it, but as far as sound clips it blew everthing away that's out there, I really believe that Laney AOR + Demonizer can potentially cover everything from the classic hard rock thing to Modern tube-preamp higain thing.

Re: I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

I have one OD, and a Fuzz. I need more. I tried an awesome T-Rex OD pedal last week that just screamed, but then I realized that I dont even have enough money to buy the Fender Champion 600 ive been GASing over and none of the places ive applied to have called me back.

Re: I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

I'm addicted to OD/Boost pedals too :D

When I receive my last few HBE pedals, on my pedalboard alone just for Gain/Boost i'll have a Uno Mos Boost, Dos Mos Boost, Power Screamer OD, Big D OD/Distortion, UFO Fuzz/Octave, maybe my G2D Custom Overdrive and also maybe a Sharp FX Retro Boost Treble Booster :)

That's not including the BOSS SD1, EMMA Electronics ReezaFRATzitz and Spina modded TS9 that I own, but don't have on my pedalboard :)

Re: I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

I hate OD pedals.

I almost never get them to sound right, and when I do get them to sound right they only sound right until I'm done playing. They next time I play it sounds like garbage again.

That said, I still buy a couple a year to play with, only to get frustrated and later sell. It's like a bad habit that I just can't drop....

Re: I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

I use a number of them, even with my tweed. There are many times I can't turn it to 11 here.

I had the same issues before I started modding pedals. Also, I end up having the same thing happen with a pedal I can't mod.

Re: I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

I've been hit by the same bug. I'm actually contemplating selling all my non-drive pedals to get a G-system and just focusing on my drives. So far I've only got the hotcake and the fd2 mosfet, but i've gone through a few as well (keeley ts9, ts808, blackstone) and i just want more! KLONS, TIMMYS, KOTS, BRING EM ON!

Re: I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

There are few Distortion/Overdrive pedals tat I like, but I really like those ones. :D

Re: I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

I have a multi-effects unit, and that gives me about 20 different types of distortion and overdrive...it's all I'll ever need.

Re: I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

I've been playing electric for 8yrs and have yet to own a single od/dist pedal. Does this make me a weirdo? I think part of it is b/c I've always had crappy ss amps. That might change tho now that I'll have an all tube amp.

Re: I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

Starting to be love/hate here too... I can't find exactly what I want :( I want jumping harmonics but a low gain, I want gain but that cleans up when you need it, I want a thick midrange yet to keep the guitar's character through, and I want a clean boost yet WITH clipping diodes :(

Re: I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

Yea, addicted.
D1 - Ts9 orig/Analog brown mod
D2 - Maxon OD808 reiss/analogman mod
Mini-chorus-Analogman(greatest pedal on planet) so far

And you already talked yourself out of my Fulldrive II :(

I have no idea if it has clipping diodes or not (I just go on sound, not too much fo a boffin) but it fits with everything else you mentioned here :)

Re: I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

I use a Maxon SD9 (stock) to boost my leads, with the gain turned down to nothing (still has quite a noticeable effect). It's true bypass, pretty darn quiet and sounds nothing at all like a tubescreamer. It's a little gritty when you crank it, but ultimately it goes over Boss SD-1 territory for rock, but a lot better sounding. The Xotic BB preamp is also really nice, more of an overdrive. I've just got the SD9 and a chorus (Maxon vintage series) for effects.

Re: I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

I just got turned on to them a couple months ago. As of today I've got:

Carl Martin Plexitone
Tone Factor Huckleberry
Skreddy ScrewDriver
EH Metal Muff
EH Big Muff NYC
MI Audio Crunchbox
Delay
Chorus

I think I may have a small problem with buying pedals :smash:

Aside from spending to much money on the pedals they are loads of fun to screw around with. I'm on the look out for a good clean warm amp to use as a foundation of a pedal rig. Should be loads of fun

Re: I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

I've been through a few as well in my search for something that I liked...

Here is a list of those I have tried.

Marshall Jackhammer - Sounded huge... too huge. Lacked sustain oddly enough for all the gain it had. Sold...

Zoom PD-01 - Was a good pedal only when the drive was completely off... (incredibly transparent) Sounded quite terrible doing anything else.

Boss SD-2 - Sold the first for whatever reason and managed to buy another. I got lucky considering that they are pretty hard to find nowadays. More on this later.

Boss OS-2 - Was pretty cool and rather under-rated as a drive pedal. Still not as nice as the SD-2 to me.

Ibanez TS7 - Great TS thing going. Worked great as a combo with the SD-2 to provide a sustain and gain boost of sorts.

Fulltone Fulldrive MOSFET 10th ann edition - Glorified Tubescreamer to me. Mosfet modes and flat mids and stuff were interesting though. Still was not my cup of tea.

Xotic BB preamp - Had a bump in the lower mids. This pedal is really interesting. It can go completely clean to having a medium amount of drive. Rather transparent except for the added fatness. Get compressed pretty easily. More for the higher gain modern player.
Note: To me the AC Booster and BB preamp never stacked well... The RC was great though.

Digitech Bad Monkey - Was nicer on its own as compared to the TS7. I prefer the TS7 for boosting other pedals though.

On my board right now?
Bad Monkey -> Blues Driver -> Boss SD-2.

The Blues Driver was the pedal I was searching for all throughout that hunt for a transparent and amp like pedal which included the Twin Tube Classic.

Many people mention the Blues Driver as transparent and all that... It's true. Dislike it's tonality? Monte Allums and Keeley mods fix it beautifully. I like mine stock though.

Don't we all love drive pedals.=D

Re: I'm addicted to Overdrive pedals :(

I'm thinking of getting a SD1 and modding it, then a Marshall Guvnor and bring it closer to Crunchbox specs. That should take care of 90% of all my sounds short of uberballzmetalofdewm.
