I'm Back W/new Schecter

g'day eh,

After spending almost a year with my Line 6 Variax, I bought a Schecter 006 Elite and I'm back in love with all things pick-up related.

The variax is a great tool, but it lacks a certain presence that a "real" guitar with Seymour Duncans has.

My new Schecter is absolutly amazing (especially for $750 can.). It's got a flame maple top, nice weighty mahogany body, huge frets, perfect medium sized neck and Grover tuners. I was a little worried about the Duncan Design pups but they sound really good. They are apparenty built to the exact specs as a JB and '59 both of which I've used before-- they seem pretty close.

Has anybody else had experience the Duncan Design and did you like 'em?

Re: I'm Back W/new Schecter

We have a Schecter C-1 Classic http://media.schecterguitars.com/imgs/hr_c1_classic_3tsb.jpg , a C-1 Blackjack http://media.schecterguitars.com/imgs/hr_c1_bj_blk.jpg and a Stiletto Custom 4 bass http://media.schecterguitars.com/imgs/hr_custom4_vrs.jpg and love them all! Great hardware, real duncans on the guitars jb's and '59's and EMG's on the bass, for the price especially used how could you possibly go wrong? They are all a few years old tho and I noticed on my last trip to GC that the newer ones don't look or feel nearly as nice, too bad as the workmanshop on ours is impeccable! Great buy John, I know you will enjoy your 006! Deb

Re: I'm Back W/new Schecter

My Schecter C1+ is the best guitar I own. Period. Better quality and workmanship than my Gibson LP Studio. Plus excellent balance, lightweight, beautiful to look at and now that I changed out the DD pups awsome tone. You really can't go wrong for the money.

So mindbender, when about was your Schecter made? I am curious to see if my feeling of the decline of quality is right? And I think alot of guitarists think of Schecter as only making instruments for metal heads, totally not true! Many of the styles are far from that, tho Schecters endorsed artists are mostly metal guy's! Good good stuff all the way around in my opinion! deb

Re: I'm Back W/new Schecter

I would just purchase a 59 and JB and replace the duncan design and have an great sounding guitar. and sell the Duncan desgin PUPs

Re: I'm Back W/new Schecter

Congrats!! You may be surprised at just how good the Duncan Designed pickups are.;)

Re: I'm Back W/new Schecter

but are the real seymours that much better?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Quality control is a major difference , IMHO, betwixt USA Duncans and the imports. I've used some Duncan Designs that sounded fantastic, indistinguishable from USA-made, and some that sound like trash.

If you think they sound good, they probably do! And vice versa.

Now if you're talking about Cool Forum Credibility, then yes I'm afraid you'll have to slap some real Duncans in there. :laugh2:

Enjoy. I think the 006s are the best Schecters to own and play, even though I have a C-1 Elite!

Mine was made about 5 years ago or so, so Ican't vouch for the newer ones. Maybe I just lucked out, but it's the best $450 I ever spent!
