I'm GASing again - D'Angelico Premier Bedford SH Semi-hollow Electric Guitar

I like oddball and unusual designs like this. If I was going to be critical, it would just be that I don't like the mounting ring on pickguard design. Seems thrown together rather than thought out. Otherwise, I like it.

It seems very thought out to me, as if every decision was intentionally made to be contrary to norms or expectations

I like it even better in red with the stop tailpiece

If you look closely the pickguard is trimmed around the mounting ring, the ring is not on the guard.

Still, it would look so much better to eliminate the ring and just enlarge the guard to mount the pup to...like the other pups...you know, to keep it consistent and look like it may have actually been designed with aesthetics in mind.

I would like to get one of the bob weir deluxe Bedford models. They are so badass two SD stacked p90's(splittable) and a lollar single coil in the middle with a blend knob and a trem, cmon now ...

I saw this guitar in the music store today and hated its finish. It is an ultra-flat satin finish. I didn't even pick it up. I did play a checkerboard Jackson and hated the neck on it.

It is the SDOTD again in blue with the trem. I played two recently and while they are decent guitars they are not anything I need to run out and buy even at $399.

At $400 off, it would certainly be worth it to get it and either block the trem or take it out and put a hardtail bridge on it. I'll bet you could get some pretty sweet tones out of that guitar. Also, the mounting of the bridge pup has been an esthetic problem for some, but then again, it's not so hard to make a new one that surrounds that pup...so, no separate pup ring, just pickguard-mounted like the other pups.

I played two one in a music store and there is one at the recording studio. Both times I played them I was "whelmed" not even motivated enough to plug in to an amp 10 feet away either time.
