I'm getting a Super Reverb

Title says it all, end of story......forget the Pro Reverb, the whole reason (well sorta) I wanted another amp was to get a different speaker combination, namely the beastly wall of a 4x10. I called up two spots with some decent looking Pro Reverbs (original parts, desireable years) and they were both sold but the payment process did not finish so "sold" was not put on the website. I found a ton of Super Reverbs, one all original one in Brooklyn. I'll call them up tomorrow and see if I could bring my own guitar and play through it and see what I think. so LONG LIVE DA SUPA VERB!

Very few things sound as good as a strat with Surfers into a real blackface Super Reverb. I get chills just thinking about it, and want one again.

Re: I'm getting a Super Reverb

good luck thats one heck of a beast to haul around.

Yeah, whatever you do, don't take the steps out of your basement two at a time with it, slip, fall backwards onto your back, then let it land, corner first, right on your stomach.

Super's rule. I grew up with one, and it's been gathering dust since my dad became a bluegrass guy full-time. I bet as soon as I start hearing you rave about yours, I'll start trying to talk him out of his :D

Man yeah! It's about time you stepped up. I freakin love my super reverb and as much as I want to blackface it, it just sounds so good as is I never get it done :) Long live the Supers! Even my Dr. Z has been designated almost entirely as a studio only amp now. I only drag the Dr. Z out when I have outdoor shows and I run the super and the Dr. Z simultaneously

Re: I'm getting a Super Reverb

supers are great amps for sure. they are good for building upper body strength too :)

a friend of mine who is a good player, he might be 21 now, is a skinny kid and watching him try and hump that thing around is both comical and a little painful

Re: I'm getting a Super Reverb

yeah, i agree but i prefer to carry two deluxes rather than one super. its just funny watching a 110 lb kid try and manipulate a 80 lb amp

Re: I'm getting a Super Reverb

Agreed. I weigh 160 lbs., and lugging that monster around is doing no good things for my vertebrae.

Got some skinny friggin people on these boards!

But congrats dude, that's a helluvan amp.

Re: I'm getting a Super Reverb

my 210 lb ass isnt all that small but carrying a deluxe on each side seems better for my back

Re: I'm getting a Super Reverb

I'm glad you've been able to make up your mind.. for me I'm having a shootout between a super reverb, a pro reverb, or a twin reverb.. I might nix the twin though cuz that's just too much wattage to try and overdrive.. I still can't decide whether I prefer 4x10's or 2x12's though

Re: I'm getting a Super Reverb

Jesus invented the half-stack for a reason...take the amp and cab seperately.

Props on the big bad combo tho. I would love to get down on one of those.

Me too! I've owned a few Super Reverbs. They have a very loud cleanish tone...unless you really crank up the volume. Personally, I prefer the Pro-Reverb with two 12's. They're clean at low volumes and break up a little sooner when you crank them a little. But the real issue with Supers is they're hard to move around. Because the cab is tall (and I'm not! laugh!) I can't just pick a Super Reverb up by the handle on top and walk with it with my arm hanging by my side...the amp will still hit the ground. So they're heavy and awkward and the easiest way for me to carry one is to carry it with both arms up by my chest.

I loaded up my Subaru for the gig tonight just a little bit ago and I was able to carry both of my Deluxe Reverbs out to the car with one in each hand.

So much easier!

Super Reverbs are wonderful amps though...especially for cleanish bluesy rythym playing.

Is it a BF or SF? It really doesn't matter. As long as the Silvers are NON MAster Volume they're great!!. I have a drip edge Super Rever from 68 I think. I have a MAtcjing Deluxe Reverb too...... Good Luck with it its a great amp~
