A middle HB sounds very different then the same PU does in the bridge or neck slot. Totally different sound, and not a better sound either.

Shame, I was planning on modding this guitar with a great emphasis on its visual aspect.

I thought things were going too easy and simple, I was wondering why I hadn't encountered any problems and doubts yet! aha

I thought the Phat Cat can be had with a black cover, but I may be wrong. If I am, you could go for a P-Rails in the middle. Black, and with single coil and P-90 tones to boot. Perfect!

I do think you'd be better just getting two humbuckers and a middle pickup all in chrome. I don't get the middle one being black thing, I don't really think it'll work.

I want to be able to split all 3 pickups. How do I go about that?

Also, do I need to buy any other components? Other than the 3 pickups

What's the difference between a Maestro and a Bigsby?

They are both vibrato systems...thats about the only thing they have in common...

You're going to need to buy some push/pull pots and get some sort of wiring diagram drawn up! I don't know anything about the Triple Shot rings, but they could be your saviour.

BTW I don't remember ever seeing a Black Beauty with three chrome pickups, it's not really a classic look is it?

Well, it's certainly not as classic looking as the 3 gold PUPs, but I like the uncovered middle PUP for that cruder look aha

Are the pots available at Wymore too? That's where I'm ordering the PUPs from

Will I have to drill any holes in the guitar or can I use the knobs for the push pull?




(In case you can't tell, I know literally nothing about wiring or schematics )

Better than getting push-pull pots (but more expensive) would be to get Triple Shot humbucker mounting rings.

Or if you want to eliminate the middle pickup completely, you could use 6 SPDT switches (yeah that's a lot of holes to drill) which could give you even more switching options than 2 Triple Shot mounting rings.
