do just that! its a fun time and can be overwhelming too. lots going on usually. i remember jolly and i at the nashville namm many years ago, steve bailey and victor wooten sitting down and jamming. the namm officials came over and asked them to stop since they had created a huge bottle neck in the convention center with their huge crowd and it was considered unsafe
I'm jealous! Went every year for a few years in the early and mid-2000s, sometimes repping a company, sometimes just sneaking in because I lived nearby, LOL!
Come out to the DAS Arena Plaza stage and say 'Hi!', I'm stage managing that stage all week (old guy with glasses, ugly Hawaiian shirt, probably wearing a Moze Guitars ball cap)
I remember TAMA had a solid brass snare that weighed 100 pounds. The reps said if you can pick it up with one hand, you can have it. Billy Cobham one handed it, and immediately boogied out the door with it.
Ibanez had a solid brass Ibanez Artist, same offer. No one could do it. It's been for sale online almost 10 years on Reverb for a ridiculous price.
