I'm looking into buying plexi head. Check out these deals.

Re: I'm looking into buying plexi head. Check out these deals.

NONE of those amps are gonna give what you are asking for...none of those amps are gonna give you killer tone at bedroom levels, period.

That said you could use any of them at stage levels and get by in low volume settings ok but the tone IS gonna suffer. All that said, you are still talking about 3 very different sounding amps...a plexi with only a master volume added is not gonna get you into high gain crunch, it will have a great sounding break up but far from high gain. The 2210 is a higher gain amp that a plexi and is a very cool amp, the DSL is gonna have the most gain of the 3 you have mentioned. Even though the DSL and the 2210 do have master volumes (even thought they are not PPI) you are not gonna get killer tone ta whisper levers out of even a 50 watt amp much less a 100.

Im not trying to tell you you need a different amp and Im not trying to talk you out of a Marshall I am just trying to tell you that you are expecting impossible things out of the amp...

I also say you should look into Splawn some more. I dont have much experience with alot of marshalls (vintage that is), and never have played a splawn amp, but with every clip ive heard, i think you would be more satisfied with a Splawn than anything else.

Thanks man. Well okay. I guess it would be nice to have great tone at bedroom levels. But its just a nice-to have. Primarily I need an amp to keep up with my 1000 watts drummer !!! I would like to re-emphasize how loud my drummer is. I hope I don't have to MIC the 100 watt halfstack at gigs... If you think thats crazy - you haven't heard my drummer. he plays a 26" gretch kit. He hits very hard with the fat end of the stick (flat of the stick). Every snare shot is a rim shot.

Just to let you know: In rehersal I mic the 50watt JCM900 halfstack every time. If I don't, the solo doesn't cut on a loud section of a song. Maybe this particular halfstack is close to cooked, thats why I have to mic it.

Thanks I appreciate the input though. Its still all very much open. I just want something locally you know - I don't want to ship from America.
