I'm not impressed with the Duncan Distortion

Re: I'm not impressed with the Duncan Distortion

I would use a custom, but that's just me. I like my tone a bit harder than others.

Buy a DDneck put an a2 or 4 in it and drop it in the bridge. Same gauge wire as the C type pickups just 2k underwound or 2k over wound of a SD. That pickups right in the middle.

Re: I'm not impressed with the Duncan Distortion

You really need to get some 500k pots in the volume positions of that guitar before you evaluate any HB pickups. It makes a huge difference in tone.

Re: I'm not impressed with the Duncan Distortion

there is a guy who does the demo's for BOGNER amps and he uses a duncan custom, go to http://www.bobsavage.net/
and click on amp demo clips with him using a duncan custom
everyone i have asked says the custom is perfect with a bogner and a Les paul with 500K pots :)

whoa - BrentSP - that high gain #1 (bogner ubershall - the clip in your signature) clip sounds awesome!

that is the type of tone I am lookin' for concerning metal parts in a guitarist. good stuff!

Thanks HardRockSinger. The Uber is an amazing amp.

Re: I'm not impressed with the Duncan Distortion

I think I might try the Distortion in my PRS McCarty.......I haven't tried that pickup in it yet.

Re: I'm not impressed with the Duncan Distortion

I tried my friends LP goldtop with a C5 thru an Uberschall. It was buttery smooth sounding but not muddy.....more vintage to my ears. My LP with a Custom was more agressive in the hi end. I read that lots of guys/gals feel that the C5 is bassy and lacking hi end and them some think its the be all, end all of pickups. The less bass the better for my LP's.

For whats its worth......The pickup I'm looking for is something with a open sound but tight and not overwelming on the bottom end, decent gain, with crunchy hi mids and sweet singing highs, with superb clarity and definition. lol.....I'm describing a "dream" pickup I guess.
I think that you're describing a Screamin' Demon, my friend! It does have aggressive highs, though. Maybe a little more than just "sweet and singing", but still in that category. :)
