I'm not really a PRS guy BUT

I've really been having G.A.S for a USA Custom 24 model for some reason.

I've always had a love hate thing for PRS and I think it's because I only like their USA higher end stuff. I would really prefer a Alder or ash body over the Mahogany they offer.

Also the pups they use I think sound great for cleans but once you start to add dirt they become overly bright mind you I like a bright sound sound but PRS are just TOO bright when you add dirt.

PRS to me have everything I would want on a LP but with out the tone of a LP.

Two elements to my reply.

1) The only thing that behaves exactly like a good Gibson Les Paul is a Gibson Les Paul or a very faithfully built imitation. I have a so-called lawsuit period PRS Singlecut. It comes pretty close. The scale length messes ever so slightly with the overtones.

2) How can anyone decide that he or she is a _______________ (fill in the blank with a guitar brand name) kinda guy or gal until he or she has played at least one example?

I love the tone of a LP in the rhythm position but I don't like the control layout. Which is why I'm a strat guy (Super strat guy)

Now the PRS SC 245 is up my alley but I've never played one so Idk how one stacks ups against a LP. I like the knob placement way better then on a LP.

The Bernie doesn't have a adjustable bridge so thats a deal breaker for me.

I've played LPs, Vs, Explorers, Fire Birds, Teles, Strats, and 335s and for me it came down to how they hang on me with a strap. The most comfortable guitars I've ever played were a strat , and a Fire Bird. I've never gotten the chance yet to play a PRS single cut but I'm guessing it hangs like a LP.

Regarding the PRS one-piece wrapover bridge, I have found both the American and Korean made variants to intonate accurately with .009-042, .0095-044 and .010-046 gauge string sets. The two grub screws provide sufficient correction.

I've played a few guitars.
Of course there are variances(sp?).
That being said,I'd rather have a great LP than a great PRS.

I love the playability of PRS. Almost every one I've picked up felt very easy to play. Most ever guitar player I know in the Gospel circle around here owns a C22 or C24 and they work well for that Genre BUT I would never try to rock out with one with the stock pups Ill take a LP for that or my Super strat.

LOVE my 07 PRS Custom 24!!
I could never see playing a Les Paul on stage over one of these but this is just me.
Mine has the factory HFS/VB pickups and the 5 way rotary and will not be touched. The HFS at high gain is absolutely NOT thin and bright and this is really the ONLY ceramic mag high gain pickup I have ever liked. The number of different tones I can pull off with this guitar on the fly is simply astounding. Saying that I LOVE the tone of the guitar with the stock pickups on it's own.
Like many others before I picked this one up ( to flip NOT keep and play) I considered these guitars as overpriced and soulless. Now after owning this one for a while I'm hooked and can never see me not owning and regularly playing one of these on stage!!

The PRS wraparound is not a bug, it's a feature! It says: "this guitar is made for playing, not screwing around".

For anyone who thinks themselves more 'Strat' than 'LP', then I can highly recommend they give the NF3 and/or DC3 a go - you'll feel surpringly at home.

I'm just not so good at selling off gear I don't use. I own four PRS guitars but am not a PRS guy (anymore). :smack:

Even so I figure I'll hold on to at least a couple. They're really nice guitars and every now and again I find myself looking for a chance of pace.

Their own design. They work well though, my NF3 is probably my fav, or close to my fav guitar at the moment.

I just find that even though my Gibsons or my Fender will get me classic tones, the PRS just holds up better in gigging situations.

I've been seriously gassing for PRS lately after avoiding them for a long time. I knew that there was a possibility that I find a guitar that I had to have and wouldn't be able to afford it.

Now I want a McCarty, or a Swamp Ash Studio, or a Custom 22, or a Starla, or a....
