I'm not sure what direction to go with pickups for my strat...

I picked up another strat last week and I'm unsure of what direction to with the pickups. Right now I have another strat with a Pearly Gates in the bridge and a Dimarzio Virtual Vintage blues single coil in the neck position, no middle pickup. I thought about doing the same thing in my new strat, but that seems boring. Here's some ideas I've had:

Twangbanger bridge, APS-2 neck (I already have a spare APS-2)
SSL-5 bridge, SSL-1 neck
'59b, Dimarzio Virtual Vintage Blues (500K pot setup)
Pearly Gates set

The Twangbanger would be cool, but I also have a telecaster coming in and I don't want it to sound exactly like that. I'm wanting something to bridge that gap between my strat and tele. Something with the same output as my strat with the PGb, but more like a traditional sounding Fender.

Why do I have to be so indecisive? :banghead: :laugh2:

You already have HSS strat and tele - I'd go with SSL-1 set.
I use them with marshall super lead and JMP 50 MKII for everything from clean, pop, blues, rock to 80's metal.
What speakers are in your mojo cab? With g12m or g12H SSL-1 should sound good but I didn't have a chance to try ceriatone 2204 out.

Certainly I would go pure vintage Strat since you cover HSS Strat and Tele.

A cheap SSL1 or APS1 set from ebay and you are all set.

The only problem is that this most likely ends the fiddling, so you'd have to go and actually play.

59B, STK-S6 in the neck. Rock-on hum free my friend...

the twangbanger/aps combo would actually bridge the strat/tele pretty well. i love the tb but it doesnt sound like a tele. it has some characteristics but the bridge design, different bridge pup shape and single cutaway body change things enough that they wont sound the same.

i think the ssl5/ssl1 combo would be cool too

If you want e Tele sound out of the bridge position of your Strat, why not put an STL-1 Tele there and your APS-2 at the neck?

I have a Twangbanger/APS-1/APS-1L set in my Squier JV Stratocaster. Sounds almost as tasty as that choc bar in Grumpy's posting looks. My favourite combination, however, is Twangbanger/Five-Two/Five-Two RPRW.

Which is your favourite guitar out of your bunch? What do you think of the pg/dimarzio virtual blues set

I like them all for different reasons, but I usually reach for the '04 strat. One of the better sounding strats I have played, even before I modded the hell out of it. Here's a pick of the '04:

The PGb and Dimarzio VVB work really well together. Very balanced and they sound great when selected together. The VVB works great with 500K pots, which is what I run in that strat (the PGb sound better with 500K).
