Not bad for $201.50 :D

I've been vaguely fascinated by semi-hollows for a while. Then the semi-hollow thread here came up and that set me googling stuff and looking for a nice cheapo. But try as I might I could'nt get past their plug-ugly grandpa-ish looks. Yes, I'm shallow lol. Also, although I've never played one..I've heard about their infamous feedback issues with high gain & I'm also undecided on whether I like the way they sound...that made me hesitant too. Then I came across this beauty from "Grote" guitars & damn ...looks great (to me) ..seems pretty well put together too (judging from the seller's feedback & the few video's like that ^^ one I've come across on youtube) & it's cheap as ****! Next thing I know..I've pulled the trigger :bigthumb:

Reminds me a bit of those (I think) Rick Turner instruments, I think Lindsay Buckingham played one.

And it brought to mind a question ... if someome built an instrument influenced by a Grote guitar, would the former be considered Grote-esque ??

Congrats! I am not a grandpa (yet) but I admit Iam a geezer; and I love the way 335s look. But there's nothing wrong with pointy guitars either - I have wanted a Dean for ages and one day I'm gonna....

Well, certainly looks good, non-grampappy looks and if you're happy with it, for 200 usd I can't say I can find any fault to it.

Yeah, those usually come out right away...haha. The pu's may or may not follow. I'm thinking a pair of zebra's would look nice...or something with black nickel covers. But let's see what it sounds like...

I always post an abundance of reviews (lol!)

As for specs...she's a woman of mystery lol. They did'nt have any up on the page...but you can pretty much tell by looking at it (apart from wood type) and I had a rough idea of what it sounds like (not bad at all) thanks to the youtube vids...

Thanks! Yeah, not a wrinkle in sight... :p. And that's 200 USD with free shipping :bigthumb:

I like the fact that it actually (as far as I know..) seems to be an original design (and a really good one at that!) and has "Grote" on the headstock instead of "Gibson"/"PRS" etc..not that I really care, but I'm not a Gibson/PRS fan :laugh2:

Also, I like the in-line tuners (always prefer those) and I think the single F hole looks great because of that..gives the guitar a nice and streamlined look.. it would've looked odd with a three-a-side headstock.

It sure looks well made, judging by the pics.

I'm pretty sure you hit a home run at that price. It'll probably feel and sound like a $2K guitar, once it's dialed in.
