I'm on YouTube playing Eric Johnson. Thunder, Wind and Rain

Re: I'm on YouTube playing Eric Johnson. Thunder, Wind and Rain

Wow man that was great!! um no offense but... you look alot dif then your avatar and over 23!

Now with thta out of the way (sorry!) comes the playing.

Great tone, what were you playing through there? Everything was played great, love the transition from pick to fingers (for that warmer sound), and were you using neck or neck/middle? The playing was flawless and I loved it...wanna see/hear some more from you.

Hey Kamanda!

Thanks! I'm glad you like it.

I use both position 1 and position 2. Just watch my pickup switch. Position 1 is VERRY glassy - kinda bright too. Position 2 is not so glassy and more rounded off. Its not as hollow, and more quacky than position 1.

Yeah I look old. I wanna grow my hair as long as it will go, but unfortunately a lot of it is falling out. I'll see if I wanna cut it soon or not...

Re: I'm on YouTube playing Eric Johnson. Thunder, Wind and Rain

Yeah man that was really really good. Offer lessons in Toronto at all maybe?

Re: I'm on YouTube playing Eric Johnson. Thunder, Wind and Rain

Thanks Timmy!

Yes I do give lessons. And I charge not much at all. I'm in North York. PM if interested.

Re: I'm on YouTube playing Eric Johnson. Thunder, Wind and Rain

That sounded terrific! It was a perfect combination of technique and feel. I love how you hide the pick away in your first finger when doing the Montgomery thing with your thumb. Very sweet and clean tone, too. What amp were you using? Anything between the guitar and amp?

Re: I'm on YouTube playing Eric Johnson. Thunder, Wind and Rain

hey thanks everybody!

My setup is below:

Highway 1 strat
(Shielded. 9 way switching. 2 humcancelled SD Antiquity 2s and a hotrail. Top 3 strings have graphite saddles. Locking sperzels)

into

Boss Keeley Ultra DS-1

into

BOSS ME-30 with Delay and Reverb

Fender blues Junior (with jensen speaker) with reverb.

into Cakewalk Sonar 3.0

After this, I add compression, surrounder, and reverb, and voila!

Re: I'm on YouTube playing Eric Johnson. Thunder, Wind and Rain

Great stuff! The tone was great, incredibly Strat-y sounding, chimey and quacky at different points. Great playing too, lots of odd chord forms in Eric Johnson's songs (at least to me anyway). Another good bit of inspiration from this forum!

Re: I'm on YouTube playing Eric Johnson. Thunder, Wind and Rain

the only reason i'm reposting what everybody else says is because its hard to get tired of being told you are good. really good. makes me want to get a strat. i always loved that kind of tone but i like heavy metal a little bit more. dope man.

Re: I'm on YouTube playing Eric Johnson. Thunder, Wind and Rain

Thanks guys!!

Emilo. If you like some tone, get it.

Thing with me is I like EVERY tone. I have a marshall plexi half stack that can get some heavier stuff. I got a couple les pauls, a 335, an explorer, an ibanez superstrat, a telecaster, a neck-thru lado and a floyd rose strat. I play them all regularly. Why choose just 1 tone ?!! :)

Re: I'm on YouTube playing Eric Johnson. Thunder, Wind and Rain

Very refreshing to hear, your phrasing and timing is top notch. Excellent work...finally got to hear the Surfers too, thanks for posting this :)

Re: I'm on YouTube playing Eric Johnson. Thunder, Wind and Rain

Hey man.

Sorry they are not the Surfers.

They are Antiquity with the A2 in them

The surfers are the Alnico 5s. I should've said Alnico2 - that would make it more clear.

I'd imagine the surfers would be glassier than these. Mine are more rounded.
