i'm planning a trade blitz! fender american vintage content :D

ok, so my local music store offered me £300 for my seven-string (stupidly high :D) so i'm planning to trade in my melody maker and DSL401 (since i got the orange it's barely been touched) and go for my first 'proper' big two guitar. That should leave me around the £900 mark.

they've got a few of the american vintage strats in but none of the AV teles.. at first i was blinkered in on the tele (i've owned a MIJ strat) but i'm looking more and more at the '62 reissue.

i won't go anything less than nitro and USA. i'm planning to try a les paul standard faded as well, just to cleanse the pallet!

anyone own an american vintage? i'd like to hear how you like it. if all goes well i'll be sounding like this shortly...

hmm.

i'm spying on getting some more USA Made Fenders in the future... i missed out on some amazing steals lately on 57 strats!!!! I've been eyeing the Hot Rod 57 and 62 models... the Vintage reissue Strats and Teles as well....

i have lust for a 62 Reissue Tele... and a 62 Strat... and a 57 strat... only time will tell what my next axe will be... for now i'm happy with what i got... er... i mean my bank account says i'm happy with what i get so far

the only down side to a 62 Hot Rod strat i've come across is the fat neck may take me a while to get used to!

PS-i saw a 65 year old man playing in a vets hall about 8 years ago on an American Standard strat thru a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe sounding just like Mark doing all the Dire Strait's hits... he had that sound down with some common gear

I really like the American Vintage guitars. If you can get one for a price you can afford, I say jump on it. They are very well put together, and you'd be hard pressed to find a nicer Fender outside the Custom Shop.

I started on a Strat but now I love Teles way more. If I were to trade in all that gear I'd want a AV Hot-Rod '52 Tele w/ the SD mini bucker. Overall though I've never heard any bad remarks about the AV Fenders.

The other guitarist in my band has one of those in butterscotch blonde. It sounds TITS. T I T S. If you like Teles, this one will make you mess your pants.

i did it :D

AV '62 RI strat, fiesta red.

pics soon!

Re: i'm planning a trade blitz! fender american vintage content :D

as promised :D it's almost a pinker shade than the pics show!

first thing a friends dad said when he saw it was 'didn't know you were a shadows fan!'

Re: i'm planning a trade blitz! fender american vintage content :D

so far i think i've totally done the right thing! i'll miss the melody maker but for the first time in a loooooooooong time i can't put this bastard thing down :D

it's really light, and i tried all these A/Bed with it..

a different AV '62 RI strat, shoreline gold
thinline tele
60th anniversary tele
roadworn tele

i gotta say, either the 60th anniversary was on an off day or the roadworns really are a nice surprise! whilst i was already smitten with this one, they were at least equal.

the funny thing is there was only a £200 difference between the roadworn and this one used.. tough choice :laugh2:

this thing weighs almost nothing, and it freakin' sings. shame my only remaining amp is in for repair!!

I know. I tried one at Steve's Music store in Toronto and I was blown away.

Very nice Strat Imp! I love red strats!
