I'm thinking about getting an active Fender Jazz V

I'm thinking about getting an active Fender Jazz V. I currently play passive Jazz 4 strings.

Any opinions on the Jazz V? I'd like a 5 string. I really wanted a Stingray but after trying them I just couldn't get into them. After experimenting with with various basses around town I keep preferring the sound of a Jazz.

Any preference for active vs passive with a 5 string?

MIM Deluxe vs MIA Elite?

A buddy of mine let me borrow his Active Deluxe Jazz for about a year and it was awesome, having the active eq on it really gives you a lot of diversity, personally I at this point I likely wouldn't buy a passive bass for myself.

I like the sound of active 5's better, just because it helps the B string with some amps.

Yes, I agree on the active circuitry. Low B sometimes needs a little something on the Jazz V.

As someone who's primarily a guitar player, it's difficult to get my bearings on a 5 string bass. I don't have the high & low E strings on the edge of the neck for reference, and have to stop and think where I am. I'm sure some guys make the transition without any issues. I'll just stick with 4 string basses.
