Re: improvisation tips needed

Learn the scale all over the neck and shift positions. It's a temptation for a lot of guitarists to stay in the first position in which they learned the scale and it gets boring very quickly. Different positions also make it more obvious to play a combination of notes that wouldn't necessarily occur to you in just the first position. Don't always start and stop on the tonic. This question could be answered with about a million different things, but start with that.

I'm on probation now, the admins are letting me post in other rooms. I have to be on my best behavior, though, or it's right back into the pen! lol

I hope it helps, HT.

Re: improvisation tips needed

Sing lines and try to play them.

Start with small phrases and repeat them slightly up or down the scale you're in, adding different phrasing as you go. Try and tell a story.

think rhythmically. Change the rhythmic structure of a line when repeating it.

Make use of space.

Don't blow your wad all at once.

hope that helps...
