But Slash (AII Pros) and Angus (early 60's Gibson HB's) both use humbuckers in mahogany Gibson guitars! There isn't a Tele pickup that really sounds like that. My suggestion would be to go with a Jerry Donahue Tele bridge pickup and a Boss DS-1 set to about 1/2 to boost the signal and emulate the tone of a HB. Unless your Tele will take a pair of HB's. Lew
I had a custom shop BG1400 PU in a tele and was able to get some pretty convincing (IMHO) LP-ish tones from it...you might want to look into that or the closest thing, which I think is a "Hot Stack." It didn't sound exactly like a LP but it was pretty darn good.
