In mourning... bye bye my babies...

In mourning... bye bye my babies...

I know the feeling. Had to sell some sweet guitars myself simply because it had to be done. Good luck with the move.

Re: In mourning... bye bye my babies...

I empathize. It really hurts to let gear go. But...

You guys are all crazy. You should never get rid of guitars. I made that mistake 40 years ago with a late '50s/early '60s Gibson 330, a '66 Ric 330, a '67 345, a '68 LP Custom, and a '71 Ric bass.

I've regretted that ever since.

There's always a way to make it work out (keeping them, that is).

Re: In mourning... bye bye my babies...

Ah, the flip flop RG is gone then. That was a cool one.

yeah, it was.. plus it was in almost new condition. The new owner got it today and loves it, so that is kinda cool. (wife bought for him)
That's brutal rough man.

I had to sell my modded ktm 360 a few years back. Man i still think about how rad that bike was. It was insane to say the least.

360cc + 2stroke = fun

Ouch! sweet bike! I do still have my last mx race bike, but it needs a complete rebuild. Only way I was able to keep it was that I told my wife it had NO value. 1983 Honda CR125.
gotta love those old 2 strokes! The fours just arent the same

So is the Washburn still for sale or did it already sell?

Well, It "sold" on ebay, but Ive not yet gotten payment. I didnt have it open for international sales, but I guy in Australia won it. so we will see

Too bad to see those go, but if I could be honest, I don't much remembering you saying how you enjoyed a play-session with any of those, great as they might have been, you weren't putting them to use so at least now you can have some use for what they sold for.

For instance, time and time again I remember you going for those 80s/90s RGs never to really gel with one like you have with your Charvels, same with your LPs, the Trad being one of your faves IIRC.

I DO understand your pain though as I too feel I should downsize but can't find one I could let go off, even if I haven't played it in almost a year...

LOL!! You Are right my BFAM... The werent getting the love, but I did love having them. Funny how you then hit the nail on the head in your last statement tho.. It is hard letting them go. nice having them there when I did want to play em..

Dang BR. I can't believe in that all the years we've been in the forum, and the same town, we've never hooked up. But if I understand it, you aren't moving that far away. Maybe a leetle road trip is in my future.

Need any help moving? I've got a truck.

Artie
I know bro.. Just never free time. Still wanna get together. Im going to Lake City. hour and a half away.. I used to get together with Rand-o-monium pretty regularly, but havent seen him in quite awhile cuz my kids' troubles keeping me so preoccupied..

Re: In mourning... bye bye my babies...

It wouldnt be so bad selling them if I was buying something cool. But instead, Im just using the money to pay off credit card bills. So it must be done, but seems like such a waste.. haha

I had a 83/85 cr125 too, I named mine ottis. I always wanted the 500 version.

I agree with 2 strokes being more fun, less top heavy and even less maintenance than the new high performance 4's. But however i really did love my te510 sm it was the one wheel master.

I ahvent had bikes for sometimes now but i would love to get another one. Just a old 250 cr or rm would do me.

Re: In mourning... bye bye my babies...

One guitar I really wish I still had is the '91 American Standard Tele. That thing was sweet all around. The neck profile seemed a bit different enough from my American Standard Strat that it messed with my wrist and I had some really crazy pain going on. It sucked letting that one go. I still want another one though, possibly a MIM Standard or Baja.

oh yeah! Id love to get a new KTM 250, but since I dont have that kind of $$, Id like an old CR250 or CR500. (way too much bike, but Im not as skinny as I used to be.) My son has a kawi 250 four stroke and I rode it around the block a few weeks ago.. relit that fire really bad

Re: In mourning... bye bye my babies...

500cc 2 strokes are for ladies. hehe 700cc is just so stupid i cant even imagine the power that would come out of it. Seriously even the 360 had the most deadly power range. Not all down low like a smaller banger but very mid to high.

i had the pleasure of riding one of those aprilia rxv bikes. Holy 2 cylinders of doom it was fast for a mx style machine.

LOL!! when I was still actively racing, I was 17 and was about 120 lbs soaking wet. I had a bud that had a CR500 and he had a pipe, ported and the whole 9. That thing was da Brootz..

Not a waste. You're doing the smart thing by doing what you need to do to pay off those cc bills. Be gone with them so you may be able to pick up a couple others down the road without any lingering debt.

I'm down to the minimum and unless I am gifted one, win one or build or myself, I'm not buying another guitar. Priorities. You're doing the right thing.
