in need of heavy blues pickup

Re: in need of heavy blues pickup

A PATB 1 neck will match beautifully with the 3....its a PAF strength neck pickup with amazing clarity and sweetness.

Re: in need of heavy blues pickup

I'm probably going with the '59b in the neck unless someone somehow sways me to the Pearly Gates

'59's have more bass, and a tighter bass than PG's. Along with more treble and less mids, which adds clarity. Any neck PU with an A2 has a 'bigger' sound from the mids, and a softer high end. Depends on which flavor you want.

I guess you like lots of woof and a muddy tone with to much bass.

I'd go for a Pearly Gates neck myself. Because I can't stand lots of woof and a muddy tone with to much bass.

Been playing the blues for about 45 years, BTW.

:)

As another old fart blues player, I have to agree; you're better off with neck models in the neck, especially with something known for being boomy.

Don't be so sure Jeremy. He could have been hovering over his keyboard for the last year waiting for more responses, making an occasional dash for food or restroom visits.
