In need of urgent help! Please verify that this American Vintage 62 strat is real!

The serial number looks good (which was all I really wanted to see), and so does the stagger, pickup cover color, and bevel of the 57/62 pickups.

Love the color btw

General rule of thumb: ignore everything MetalManiac says about anything.

Almost sig worthy... lol.

Seriously though, I've seen plenty of decal lines on old, old strats.

Looks good.

Fender wouldnt leave that nasty ass amateur decal line.

On the originals, the decal sits on top of the nitro-cellulose.

I agree with the comments about '57/62 re-issue pickups. The case is genuine. The neck anchor plate is genuine. Soooooooo... either the instrument is genuine or it is a MIM Classic series model with a high proportion of AVRI parts upgrades.

Two tell-tale signs of an American re-issue over a Mexican or Japanese example:
1) A metal screening plate immediately beneath the plastic scratch plate.
2) The unmistakable smell of nitro-cellulose.

To add to Funkfingers' statement, Fender applies the decals over the lacquer on AVRIs just as it did on the originals. This looks like a legit ice blue finished AVRI.

Can you verify the serial number with Fender and get the born-on date? I'm not really sure about the body color; it looks silvery on my screen. They only offered these guitars in limited colors, so if you had a year, you could check to be sure that color was offered that year.

Good luck!

Bill
