In Praise Of Squier....

Re: In Praise Of Squier....

Squiers can be great! I got a Strat as my "first" guitar (after not having a guitar for 15 years) and it has a solid feel and played great.. I updated the mess out of it just to make it better, but the neck, body and bridge are all great. the only real issue was the stock pups..

A couple years ago, I bought a vintage modified tele and I bought it cause it was the best tele the store had for less than $1200. I didnt want to spend alot, but the guitar was so good, I couldnt justify spending more. I did change pups only out of preference. The stockers were duncan designed. I put in a Duncan JD in the bridge, and a GFS Firebird in the neck and I LOVE that guitar!

I have a vintage modified squier SSS strat. I like it. Since owning it, I've grown to dislike the high gloss finish though. I'm thinking of trading up to a highway one HSS. Last time I played one, it seemed pretty good.

my main bass (ok, bass is a side-project of mine, but who cares) is a squier with a dimarzio dp123 set - not too bad imo

Re: In Praise Of Squier....

It sounds like not many of you heard of the Squier Classic Vibe series! They've been out for a couple of years and they are on par w/many amer. made tele's and strats. I just bought a Classic Vibe Custom tele and it is one of the best guitars I have ever owned, and I've owned over 40 elec. guitars over the years.I only paid $360.00 w/out case for it. I was going to swap out electronics and a few things, but after owning it for a few months, I may not have to do anything to it. The pups are great and the body & neck are flawless!

squaw can be hit and miss, largely depending on the time and place of manufacture IMO, but they make some very playable guitars, no doubt
