In Praise of the Marshall studio 15

These amps completely kick @$$! Anyone else here have one of these? They're kinda rare, and getting costly.

I knew a guy in CA that had one. He probably still has it. It was great for ticking off the neighbors. :) Great little amps and their tone is amazing. I'd even gig with one if I could, just throw a mic in front of it.

I use mine for rehearsals and small-med gigs, and whenever I show up the other guys kinda look at me like- is that gonna be enough?, and it always crushes the smile off their face. The mid knob is more like a gain knob, and its really the most versitile amp I've ever had. It can do a great fender sound.

Recently, I was looking for a small tube combo for home practice and band practice, and came across one. It cost 700 euros though...

I ended up with a 60 watt, 1x12, closed back Brunetti combo. But I agree, the Studio 15 totally kicks a$$.

Oh, man I'd love to have one. There was a web page for a while that was dedicted to the Studio 15, and had a purple one pictured. Schweet.

Many people think that the 6V6 is the key to getting true Marshall tone at low power, moreso than the EL84 that's in the 18 Watter.

Given the Studio 15 rarity and rising cost, my next DIY is going to be Mark Huss' 6V6 Plexi design, or maybe a 6V6 2204.

How much do these typically go for? The only ones listed as completed Ebay items are $700, $799, and one un-bid at $650.

Sveral years ago there was a used one in a store here in Green Bay-$350. Like an idiot, I passed.:smack:
