In Strat modding mode! Come recommend me stuff!

BTW, an update on the neck. I'd say it's like 75% better. I've humidified my apartment, oiled the fretboard like 5 times, and gone down to using 11's. It's not perfect, but it is better for sure. I suspect the neck is NEVER going to be as stable as the Gibson, though. I still want to change the neck, but I don't think I immediately need to change it to be able to start playing the guitar.

Which is good, because it gives me the time to search for the perfect neck.

It's also a shame, because, as you can see, the fretboard is super dark rosewood now that I conditioned it.

So... what do we think?

I'm thinking perhaps a zebra or cream pickup.

BUT... I also don't want it to look too Blink 182, and it's getting dangeoursly close, LOL.

Also... Question for y'all... Are Musiclily locking tuners any good? Or should I shell out the money for the Fender locking tuners?

Or Schaller? Hipshot?

I wish there some Gotoh self-locking options with the square footprint with two pins.

I've never used Musiclily locking tuners, but have used Schallers and Hipshot ones extensively. Schallers are heavier than Hipshot open locking tuners, but both work really well.

I use the Guyker branded and the Korean made K-D brand

I got some of the $25 sets and they came apart as I was putting them in

https://www.amazon.com/Guyker-line-...1700158564&sprefix=guyker,aps,290&sr=8-6&th=1

these should be a drop in replacemnet

I was also wondering about the Guykers. I see lots of peple use them. Are they good? I once bought a set of the GFS lockign tuners which were horrible. They didn't really lock. The look got undone by itself. Are the Guykers better?

The Fenders are made by Ping who also makes Grover. But then again, Ping isn't such a high-end manufacturer either.

I have gotoh locking tuners on one of my strats and fender locking t. on my main tele, the gotoh are better but the fender are really ok

yes they are better

search amazon for guyker locking tuners and you get a choice of styles and colors

OK... so now about blocks... any preference? I check, the one on mine seems to be pot metal. The base of teh bridge and the saddles are steel. I took a magnet to them all.

Brass or steel block recommended?

Steel. Brass has a strange mellower, little slow attack tone I don't like.
in any case take the heavier block you find

Schaller and Hipshot are super good tuners. I've used the Guyker tuners with great success...no problems with them. They make several different ones, get their best quality ones.

My preference for the pickguard would be the pearloid...plain white (or ivory, or aged, or whatever) makes it look too big and blah.
