That looks great too Ayrton! I just caught where you fixed the neck gap, well played Sir!

I love that guitar!

If it wasn't for the flatter neck and the bigger frets, I'd covet the hell outta that thing myself! That said, I certainly wouldn't kick it outta bed for eating crackers.

Re: In the Workshop: Saving a '75 Stratocaster

That is very impressive work. Great job on the neck. I bet that baby plays like a dream.

Re: In the Workshop: Saving a '75 Stratocaster

I still reach for my black Strat first, but this one is a close second. I feel very fortunate it turned out as well as it did considering how much tweaking was needed.

Re: In the Workshop: Saving a '75 Stratocaster

Rosewood board on an all white body is badass.

I forgot to add that the finished guitar weighs in at 7.9 pounds.

My dad has a '73. I think it weighs 79 pounds, and would certainly benefit from the same treatment you gave this guitar.

Re: In the Workshop: Saving a '75 Stratocaster

Does dad play it?

No. He’s a bluegrass guy, but still has some electrics from way back when. The vintage Gibsons I talk about are his. I get to borrow them whenever, but he won’t officially come off any of them.

With the Strat, it doesn’t bug me a bit. Any of my three Strats is a much nicer guitar.

The best part about this one is that you pretty much built it yourself and its soooo much better than it ever was at any point even when new. This has a whole new lease on life now and it'll last you a while. Like I already said, I think this is my fav one you did so far.

Whats next on the operating table, or you busy with customer guitars?

No customer guitars. I only do this for myself. Sure I do work on friends guitars, but this is my hobby.

I am waiting on the hardware for the Les Paul Studio to show up, and I "think" I have enough parts on the shelf for one more Tele project.

I also dug out an old Ibanez RG770 DX that needs saving.

Re: In the Workshop: Saving a '75 Stratocaster

770DX you say?! Nice! One of my favs! Laser Blue to be more precise... Id love to see that sometime!

I honestly thought you had a shop cause you have a decent setup/work area from what I could see in the background of your pics... Yea I don't blame you Im not much of a ppl person so I do my own work for myself and get plenty of enjoyment and keep plenty busy at the same time.

Re: In the Workshop: Saving a '75 Stratocaster

It is Laser Blue :D

Nah, I have my benches set up in the basement. I started doing my own because I couldn't find anyone worth a darn for work.

Re: In the Workshop: Saving a '75 Stratocaster

So awesome!!! Being im a lefty I had to learn myself cause no one set my stuff up correctly to my tastes... Also they never made a 770DX so I always lusted after those as well as an RG565... Good stuff and I apologize for the slight derail, but I HAD to comment on the 770DX as you can understand! Thanks!

Re: In the Workshop: Saving a '75 Stratocaster

No worries, these threads are not following any rules.

I sold off most of my old RGs, but I have loads of Ibanez parts that I will eventually get to.

Re: In the Workshop: Saving a '75 Stratocaster

Right on, can't wait to see it when you get to it!

I think I might need a Tele myself sometime soon, so I'll look forward to that as well. Thanks again!
