Great looking guitar, I like PRS, I like Les Pauls, this one's a slam dunk for me

Re: Incoming NGD..I feel like an expectant Father again :D

Played a bit more before work today. It has really got a Bluesbreakers type vibe. Sounds fantastic for old school les paul type tones. The pickups don't handle higher gain like the T tops do, but up to the point of overload, these 57/08s are living up to their reputation. Lots of double tones and overtones..vocal...expressive.

That's nice. I like it. The neck shape sounds like something I'd like since I have 2 boatneck contour Warmoth necks. :) A little shallower in depth is OK. It's a super comfortable profile for me.

Re: Incoming NGD..I feel like an expectant Father again :D

Did some research on the 57/08s and saw where others have experienced the boomy/strident bass. Sensitive to height, so I dropped the bridge a couple turns below factory spec, and nasty bass is gone. Lost a bit of the punch, but not much. Matched the neck up volume wise and now both sound excellent. By far the best pickups PRS has done.

I'm liking how the wider spacing and clarity of the guitar is cleaning up my technique and phrasing. And I like how it's naturally a little more aggressive and percussive than a Les Paul..which is why I prefer the sound of 335 over a Les Paul too.

I think it will find a home here ;)

Re: Incoming NGD..I feel like an expectant Father again :D

I've had this thing for a week now.

After some tweaking of the pickup height and polepieces, strings, my amp, I am keeping it for sure. Very toneful, really sings and vintagey at times, but is raw and powerful too. The tone and volumes are super interactive, I assume its 50s style wiring but I have not pulled the cavity cover to look. I do know that the tone controls actually work to fatten/thicken up the tone when rolled down, instead of just seeming to make things darker/muddy.I've spent plenty of time with 50s style wiring, but this is kicked up a few notches. I suspect the pickups have alot to do with it.

Play -wise, I adapted to it without effort. I thought the neck shape, radius and string spacing would take alot more time to get used to, but it's instantly comfortable, even with my hand issues.

Also I had tons of problems with the old phase II tuners on my USA SC250. These Phase III tuners are money. The new bridge and tailpiece are a massive improvement over the wraptail, IMO. Tone..feel..stringing.

I can't nitpick a thing on this guitar.

Jeff, did you get that from a store in Seattle? Can I ask which one?

BTW, I'm a Les Paul player, but MAN...THAT IS ONE BEAUTIFUL GUITAR!!! Congrats!

Very Nice. "More bassy and aggressive than I'm used to" even better!
