Re: NGD: Bit of a dream buy really (cliche' I know!)
Cheers guys! I haven't put too much time on it yet apart from a band practice last Sunday, my others last week were canceleld unfortunately, but enjoying it so far.
Sorry for the late replies. I've not been near a PC outside of working hours for a while now and just got back from 4 days away so I'll catch up on some replies:
Nice... Congrats. ☺ Tobacco Sunburst is a favorite of mine along with Iced Tea. Just out of curiousity, how would you compare your Standard vs the R8?
I haven't played it side by side with my Standard yet to be honest, but that's the thing I noticed about it when I 1st picked it up: it felt familiar. My other Standard is a 1998 model and I've had it 10 or 11 years now so I've got it to a point where I'm very happy with the setup of it and have tried 4 or 5 sets of pickups in it to tweak to where I want it to be. The R8 may get a pickup swap at somepoint, what can I say I'm a tweaker

, but play wise it felt almost as fitting for me as my 98' does, which is quite an achievement as I've never picked up another Les Paul that felt so nice straight away.
Awesome! I love LP's and would love to be able to go to a dealer with 12 or 13 of them to sit and try. Great story and congratulations on a beautiful guitar!
Thanks! It was a useful experience as it gave me scope to play a lot of different guitars side by side that I normally couldn't have compared so easilly. He did have more LPs available, R9s R0s and some vintage 1s, but as they were all out of my price range I didn't get chance to try those unfortunately.
Told ya! I knew you'd like the Historic. It is really pretty. Congrats!
Do you know what year it is? I think anything post 2003 or so should have the Burstbucker 1 & 2 pickups stock. I like them.
Congrats again, and thanks for the pics to drool over. Sweet guitar.
Enjoy!
Bill
Cheers Bill!
It's a 2007 model and had Burstbucker 1 and 2 as stock. Whether this is still stock or not I can't say. I'm going to PM you if that's ok? To pick your brain a bit more about these guitars.
Well, hell ... what a great guitar!!
Not only that, but I'm inspired by the fabric on that chair. I think I will recover mine in vintage Tweed!
I'd never noticed before but I guess the seat fabric does kind of look like tweed covering!
yep thats a great guitar. the r8 is the one i always like best even with a plain top. i dont like the r9 or r0 necks as much and i prefer the burst over the gold on the r7. glad you like it!
Cheers!
He had a Goldtop R7 that I liked as much as this 1, but I can kinda take or leave Goldtop as a finish so I discounted it due to that. Shallow I know!
A former bandmate of mine had an R9 with an awesome flame on it that I played a few times. It was a fine guitar but I found the neck a tad too thin for my tastes.
