Incoming NGD!

Re: Incoming NGD!

Pulled the trigger on ebay for a Gravity Storm this morning. After really looking around and listening to a bunch of clips seemed the best choice for this guitar.
The output and tonal match between it and the Liquifier that's in the neck of this guitar seem good + it's a dead on visual match.
This guitar just feels different than my other Carvins and more shall we say conservative and traditional. Neck is a little chunkier and the entire guitar feels more vintage for some reason. Want more of a big fat smooth sweet open lower gain tone out of this one for those reasons and think this set up should get me there.
Will post photos of it with the other Carvin DC's when I get it all together next week.

Re: Incoming NGD!

Acoustically it's a very lively guitar and really shows potential but that Crunch Lab is just not my thing. The Liquifier in the neck is not to bad and seems pretty similar to the Sentient in my 93 but so far. haven't got a chance to really work with those 2 back to back yet. I have to make some decisions on the bridge pickup soon as this is not going to cut it for my needs as the Crunch lab is just to shrill and harsh. This pickup flat will not play nice with the neck pickup or clean up and I need it to do both.

You've got me really interested in the Sentient–I've never tried one and I love the Liquifier.

The Crunchlab works for some folks but I couldn't find a use for it for my style.

Just did a head to head assessment over on the Pickup side as I used the DC 600 this weekend live.
I have a Gravity Storm incoming this week hopefully it should make a good bridge match for the Liquifire.
The Sentient is similar but has more of a bell like clean tone is brighter and less compressed + a little less output.
Both sound great with gain but the Sentient wins clean big time.

Sweet! Thank you for the info! Please keep us posted on the Gravity Storm update–I hope it works out very well for you.

I had my Liquifires paired with Screamin Demons...kinda thinking about giving the Sentient a try though!

Re: Incoming NGD!

I’ll add, if you guys are so inclined to experiment that the Bluesbucker neck is flipping amazing as well. I’d also describe it as tubular and round under gain and just the right amount chime for cleans.
It does funky cleans amazing.

Hope so, just bought one!! Cant think of one time anybody on this forum steered me wrong

Incoming NGD!

I just looked at some Carvin guitars on eBay. They really seem to hold their value pretty well.
TBH I was hoping to see some a bit cheaper than I did. [emoji853]

They have gotten a LOT better over the last few years. I grabbed this one off of Reverb. and if you hit that site pretty consistently you can sometimes grab a real deal. the guitar I snagged would have been about a grand more to build and this thing is absolutely flawless.
