info on Hamer Diablo neck

I'm looking at picking up a really sweet-looking Hamer Diablo. But it's a long-distance sale, so I can't get my hands on it first. Can anyone tell me about the necks on these guitars?

Mainly I'd like to know about the neck carve and thickness. Nut width would be useful, too. Can anyone compare the Diablo carve to well-known baselines? For example: PRS Wide-Fat, 60's LP, Ibanez Wizard, current Strat c-carves, etc.

Thanks!

I bought a Diablo new back in like '93 or something... still have it!

The neck is typical Hamer... wide & slim. Not slim like an Wizard... more like a Gibson 60's but more rounded like Fender. Maybe it's as wide as a Wizard... dunno. I pick those up & put 'em down in about a minute. It feels NOTHING like a PRS wide/fat, but I find both them and the Hamer to be very comfy. Fretboard radius is 14" or 15"

Re: info on Hamer Diablo neck

Most Diablos I have played had rather hefty necks for a shredder guitar. Almost a U carve on a Fender neck.

The exception is the Diablo Limited Edition, which you can spot by its sunburst finish, chrome hardware and birdseye maple neck. Those Diablos had a flat, medium width neck.

Really helpful, thanks guys. I think I'll be pulling the old trigger, if the seller and I can agree on a price. This baby looks killer!

Re: info on Hamer Diablo neck

Is it OK to ask about fair market value for these guitars? Not sure if the forum rules cover this, as the sale would be taking place on another forum.

So if it's OK to ask... what do you think is the fair marker price for a mid-90's Diablo in excellent condition, original case? The pickups do not appear to be stock, as they have Duncan logos on them, and to my knowledge the stock pickups (JB/59?) did not have logos. Seller is asking $500 shipped (Florida to New York.)

Thanks

Re: info on Hamer Diablo neck

fine to ask, not sure about the value but a usa hamer in good shape for $500 doesnt sound horrible

Re: info on Hamer Diablo neck

$500 shipped w/case sounds pretty reasonable though I don't keep an eye on them or anything. They're pretty high quality instruments... I'd say on par with an Anderson or the like, or at least pretty stinkin' close.

FWIW - I think my Diablo came with JB/JB... though it may have been JB/59... Early on I went to a Jazz/Custom setup, added a mini-switch for a coil tap and called it a day... the Jazz is still there, though the Custom died and Fred is there now.
