INPD - Incoming New Pickup Day

It's been several years since I've bought any guitar pickups, any brand (bass is a different story). Well, this November my beloved Frankenstrat (Franky) is turning 30. It's an amazing guitar that has seen countless gigs and many pickup/pickguard changes. I've had 2 Screamin' Demons in it for the longest time but have decided to go back to what was in it at the beginning (almost); a Custom Custom in the bridge (which I have already) and an Alnico II Pro in the neck (first neck pickup was a Jazz). The A2P should be here next Wednesday. The plan is to wire it up traditional 3-way blade, single-volume push/pull to split the neck pickup. I've used the first run of the Slash A2P before and really liked it so I have no doubt I'll like the regular A2P. I may wait until November to actually do the swap. Will depend on time and all that stuff.

My Les Paul has a '57 Classic neck in it and while a lot of folks aren't fans of those, I sure am. It is a 4-conductor and it sounds really good split. I'm hoping the A2P is right there with it. No plans on splitting the Custom Custom.

I recommend a partial split. You may already know this, but a 6k resistor drops the neck hum from 7.5k to around 6k like a single coil. Still the split sound but more substantial than 3.75k or so.

Yup. Totally familiar with that. I did that with the Whole Lotta Humbucker neck a few years ago. There's a thread I made here about my findings with which resistor worked best with that one.

LMAO!!! All depends on my time availability to do the swap. We’ve had a very busy last several months since my mother-in-law passed in April.

LOL - well, next April when you get it installed, THEN tell me!

This is almost Pickup Icemanning!!!!!

Delivered a day early than estimated. This week is pretty busy so not sure when I'll get this installed just yet. It's possible there'll be time over the weekend.

Well, schedule changed for this evening. Had a second audition scheduled but that got moved to Saturday. Not a problem. So, looks like I might be able to get these installed tonight.

My long-time cover band I started with the singer back in 2006 is done. All good, no hard feelings anywhere. Life changes for a few and I respect that. Last gig was a few weeks ago, and a great one to go out with. Was playing bass the last 9-10 months but was on guitar up until I stepped down in 2017. Anyway, looks like I'll be back on guitar in if I get the gig with this other band. Will know more on or after Saturday.

I have to give a second chanche to the CC, the first time I tried it in a strat I've found it was a land of mids, actually too much.
But that was at least 10 years ago, never tried it anymore, at the moment the strat where it could be hosted has rosewood fingerboard, basswood body, vintage full block tremolo bridge, a couple of SSL1 and a A2 '59 in the bridge, pretty balanced..... would you give me any reason/hint to try it again?
