input on pickups for a tele project

Howdy folks!

I'd appreciate some input on a tele project I'm considering.

The body would be koa over mahogany, regular 2-tele single coil pickup routs, and probably a rosewood fretboard on a mahogany neck.

I want this to be a hot ax, not the traditional twang, but warm, smooth, and able to crank a little.

From looking at the spec and description pages, I'm thinking about the little '59 bridge with a Hot neck, maybe tapped. That would give me a couple switching options along with some versatility.

I like the Hot bridge in my strat, and might also consider a Hot bridge, tapped, with maybe a QP or another Hot in the neck.

I'd prefer either single coil or sc sized humbuckers, rather than stacked versions.

What do you all think?

thanks kindly,
Gary

Curly , I always liked the idea of a JD bridge with a quater pound neck and a 4 way switch.
The parallel / serie option is fine on a tele.

I put a 4 way on my tele gib and I dig it !

i like the idea of a qp in the neck and a hot in the bridge. I think that would sound very nice in a darker guitar.

thanks, mrfjones

I agree that QP and Hot would be a good combination, in either position, and tapped versions would add some variation.

I appreciate the input, folks. Something got me started thinking about a custom tele project, and I just didn't want to do something "run of the mill".
I do like the idea of a little '59 with a tapped Hot neck, though. Usually I prefer simple switching, but I thought having a '59 full/ split and a Hot full/ tapped would have a lot of possibilities.

thanks again

The BG1400 from the custom shop is a nice pickup if you are looking for something different. Worth the $140 fo' sure.
