On my 335...
Not sure if I like em or hate them..
Wounds feel rough...not smoothly polished..compared to pretty much every other string I have tried....you can feel the drag..
Plains are I believe, but not 100% pos, same as any other plain steel EB string, based on eyeing the regular slinkys had on previously....
Tone is certainly more punchy/focused and brighter/clearer than regular slinkies..there is a big push in high mids..its kinda like the RnR slinkies with the presence dialed up big time, so to speak. At the amp I was able to increase the bass quite a bit without it getting mushy/farting out as usual..an increase in treble did not seem as harsh as usual either. Different tome than SS wound strings. Certainly unique.
Tension...they seem a bit more bouncy but not in a sloppy way.
One thing I noticed was that despite the slightly increased output, I wound the pickups higher and lower than my normal settings and the volume disparity was much greater than with normal NPS or pure nickel wrap strings. Also when I woun dthe PUPs higher they actually sound much better than with normal slinkys at that height.
Jury is still out....not sure if the tone or feel works for me, but I wanna give them some time before making a decision.
