folks,

is it posssible to just screw out the screws in the SH-4 Jb and install hex screws in it , a la INVADER. are the thread sizes the same.

ok if this is possible, will my JB tone get beefier? how much beefier?

thanks.

Re: installing hex screws in the JB?

do you know where to get those screws?
I've read that the Invader uses the same coils as a JB but it could be a forum rumour.

Re: installing hex screws in the JB?

together with a ceramic magnet maybe ... I've just got the same thought, take a look at my JB RG thread..

Re: installing hex screws in the JB?

From what I understand the Invader, the JB, and the DD use the same coils! If I remember correctly, it has been stated on here way back in the past.

The hex ploes from a FS will probally add clarity, and tightness.

BTW Pac, the JB will not get beefier with Full Shred poles (probally less beef). It will get beefier with Invader style poles though!!

Re: installing hex screws in the JB?

I changed some dimarzio paf pro hex screws out for some flathead silver screws.

It took away mids and added some single coily twang.

hex screws add thickness in my experience.

Re: installing hex screws in the JB?

Add the allen screws, but then cut them to the level of the bottom of the pickup plate...This "seems" to make my own pickup a bit brighter, more articulate, and it shaved some boomy lows away....I did this yesterday to my Dimarzio VPAF N pickup and I think it made a difference? I'm still in the placebo stages with the change, but the guys at Dimarzio said it does work or they wouldn't have recommended cutting screws and trying it!
