Installing JB Jr. in "Starcaster" Strat

Hi All,
Anyone ever installed a JB Jr., Hot Rails or L'il 59 in a Fender Starcaster Strat?

Just curious, since the Duncan info says it's a slightly oversized pickup, are the mounting screws in the right place? And is there enough room in the pickguard to install without modifications?

Or does it require some trimming away of the pickguard and/or relocating the holes?

Also, do these come with mounting screws with the correct thread? Springs?

It comes with screws and rubber tubing in lieu of springs. As far as mounting hole location, it does fit a stock strat pickguard, though some sanding of the cavity in said pickguard is somtimes necessary.

It fits a strat pickguard just fine and can use the stock mounting hardware if needed.

FWIW, I had to sand a bit to get it to slip into a friend's Albert Lee model, which came with APS's.

On my Squier, the pickguard had to be trimmed a tiny bit to fit the JB Jr.

Thanks everyone. Guess I need to ascertain that the Starcaster Strat has the same hole spacing as a regular Stratocaster.

Years ago Fender's reps said the Asian made guitars varied in that metric parts and measurements were used. I guess that must really mean the threads and sized of screws etc. since Squiers are definitely made abroad.

So anyone have an opinion of JB Jr. vrs L'il '59 for use with digital amp sims like Line 6 and Guitar Rig for recording direct?

I've tried Jackson guitars with the regular JB in them with real amps, and what I noticed compared to the Starcaster (aside from it being the darker HB sound) was that "tricks" like tapping and tapped harmonics bordered on effortless, where as you have to try pretty hard with inexpensive single coil p'ups.

Anyone know if this is true with the JB Jr. as well?
