Installing new pickups with a few mods... ideas!

hey all!
i've been stalking this forum for a while, and thought i'd finally join :D

i've got one or two questions.

i've bought some new pickups, and i'm planning to install them into my guitar, but i thought i'd pull off a few mods to get as many tonal variations as i can. my guitar as stock has 2 humbuckers, 1 volume, 1 tone, 3-way switch.

i've decided that for my volume knob, i'll be using Artie's coil swap mod:

i also came across the 'spin-a-split' wiring on the duncan website:

seeing as i never use the tone knob, i thought it'd be a good idea to replace it with this spin-a-split. on observation the straight-up circuit doesn't seem like it will work with Artie's coil swap mod, but a small modification might make it work. if i connect the two splitting-wires in the first diagram to the outer lugs of the spin-a-split pot and the ground to the middle, it should have the effect of making one pickup humbucking and the other split on either extremes of the taper.

am i correct?

and if i am, what potentiometer do you guys think would be best for this? it will probably be a linear pot, but what values would be best for a smooth gradual taper between split and full humbucking modes?

if i'm not mistaken, this should also give access to the lone slug coil on either pickup with the coil-swap engaged and the spin-a-split pot set to short the otherwise active screw coil in that mode. i may just be talking total garbage here though, as i'm new to wiring pickups.

also, if anyone else has any other cool suggestions, fire away! :)

Hi Heminder, and welcome to the forum. I just caught this post late. I'll look it over closer, in the morning, and see if there's any problem with what you're suggesting.

Of course, others may chime in before then. :)

i've just taken a second look at it, and i think i'm wrong about the solo slug soil. it only gives screw coils. it might still give some interesting blends, although switching from full humbucking bridge to neck will be a bit more tedious.
