Installing pickup cover-Does tape around coils come off?

Re: Installing pickup cover-Does tape around coils come off?

Leave it on. You run the danger of messing up the wind if you pull it off. Not that you can't -just no good reason to.

I thought I read somewhere that you remove it but maybe that was for doing something else with the pickup. I've read so many things lately they all start to blur together.

P.S. They mention here about causing the sides to bulge.

I actually removed the covers on the stock set of Epi p'ups...and found both had wax soaked fabric tape on them. For what it is worth, the bridge pickup coil was physically fatter due to a larger number of turns.

Hmm. So I should probably just leave it on. I don't really think they're going to bulge anyway.

Yup, I can attest to the amount wax removed that forms between the taped coils, and the outer cover. Steve, you should have few probs leaving the waxed tape or fabric ribbon on. :)

Congrats on the amp tooo...by the way!
