Installing PU in hollow-body guitar

hi guys,
I'm changing neck PU in my hollow-body [without block] Epiphone Joe Pass.

OK, i need to put volume pot out of body through F-hole. But cable that connects pickup and pot is tied to the other cables on two places and it's very hard to approach to untie.

I tried to find by google tutorial about changing pickups in hollowbody guitars, but had no luck. :(

Can you help me with instructions or link?

tnx,
Goran

It`s a pain in the ass:(
-First,remove/unscrew the buckers.
-remove all the pots and the jack. pull all off it out thru the f hole.
-do the soldering stuff
-Find some steelwire or old strings and use it to pull all the pots/jack back in place.
You have to begin with pulling the jack in place.

Excellent, nice to hear a guitar that is not being beat to death.Did you keep the Epiphone pickup in the bridge? Also what type of strings are you using?I use 12/52s flatwounds.

Yes, I kept epiphone bridge PU, i don't have a need to change it because I use only neck PU on this hollow-body guitar.

I use same strings gauge and type as you.

cheers

Take the knobs off all of the pots, tie fishing line around the shaft of the pots, at this point you can unscrew the pots and poull them through the F-hole to do the soldering. When the soldering is complete, just pull the pots back through their holes with the fishing line and screw them back down.
