I got my TonePros bridge and stoptail today.. What's the proper method for installing the studs into the body? I just grabbed a rubber mallet and starting nudging them in, but the first one started to go crooked and I stopped out of fear i would mess something up.

Any tips?

On a (very :laugh2: ) related subject.. how does one remove the studs from the body?

Re: Installing tune-o-matic bridge studs?

if the studs are indeed the same size and the old studs are already removed then I'd recommend 1) grabbing some towels to prpotect the top of hte body and then 2) using some sort ofa punch (i use a steel bar I have that is pretty much the size of the post) however you could also use a drill press and push the stud into the body
don't use a bar/punch that is bigger than the stud or else you'll damage the top of the guitar

as for removing the studs (the studs in the guitars I build are not only hammered in but they are also epoxied in) so they will never come out
traditionally i'd suggest using a screw big enough to get inside the stud, then uing the screw head to pull the studs out

hope that helps

cheers
