Interesting pickup shootout

The video was posted here, the required information should also be posted here.

Says who (other than you)?

The video was shared by the OP, but it isn't his video, just something he came across.

EDIT: Why don't you be a good forum bro and paste the "required information" from the video description here if it's so important to have in this thread?

im not in a space with good speakers at the moment and listening to these things on laptop speakers is usually pointless, but ill definitely check it out at somepoint. and yes, its good to know what the rig was, but click the link and read before ya make a fuss

strange, i know how quickly your ears get accustomed to a new sound, but still something is up with this video. Each PU sounds really different for a short moment but then the compression or something kicks in.

I would've dialed in the base tone to be way brighter and not as bloated, but I appreciate at least it lets the character of the low end on the palm mutes come out a bit more.

But as far as the pickups go, the PAF Pro was a standout for me. But I'm not sure how much I'd actually like it if the tone was a bit more "normal". I think, however, that there's the proof that it's a REALLY bright and attack-y pickup. People tend to disagree with me in that regard. I stand by my statement that it is the brightest humbucker I've ever tried.

Probably because most people have only tried it in the neck, where it's slightly smoother sounding. In the bridge, it's a bright, snappy pickup with a lot of cut and clarity.

A ton of other DiMarzio designs (both production and OEM) are based on overwinding the PAF Pro to thicken it up and tame that bright top end, but I think it's such a unique and cool pickup as it is!

I've tried it in both positions. In both positions, it's bright, IME. Perhaps it's not thin, but it's VERY attacky.

I really liked it in the bridge when I was into lower output bridge pickups. It was really aggressive and attacky, but it also had some chunk to back it. I always thought of it kinda like a Full Shred Lite.

In the neck, it wasn't my thing. I would love to give it a try now that I've come to appreciate pickups like the '59 or the Jazz. But back when I tried it, I paired it with a Dominion in the bridge. I hated my neck pickup being brighter and more attacky than my bridge pickup, LOL.

Go to your youtube settings and where it says 'constant volume' turn it off. Doing this will reduce the amount youtube compresses your audio.
