Interface/Daw troubleshooting hep

OH THE DOUBLE THICK GLAZE!
Sound isn't registering in my daw. It's friggin pissing me off. It has always done this and I didn't seek the solution because it would eventually work after some faffing. Now it doesn't work at all. I don't get the screen that says your computer is connecting to your Apollo anymore. However, when I look up usb devices on the computer it says the Apollo is working properly. My interface is an Apollo Twin and my daw is Reaper.

I'm not a Reaper user, but for this kind of issue in general; it sounds like something powered off or was unplugged while the software was running, which would break the communication stream but still allow the computer to detect the device plugged into the port at a hardware level. My first shot would be to just power everything off and then power it back on in a specific order so that it detects and re-establishes communication; e.g. have all cables plugged in, power the I/O first, power the computer second (so it detects the I/O), then launch the DAW software so it can re-establish communication with the I/O.

If that isn't it, then OC's recommendation of uninstalling/reinstalling is a more brute-force way to re-establish communication. That would clear any caches and config files that have corrupt information.

^ I think thunderbolt cables are different. My interface is an apollo twin usb and uses a usb a-b version 3 cable I believe. I think I have the correct cable figured out haha.

Thanks for the correct order bb. That didn't work. I'm gonna go ahead with the uninstall/reinstall and see if that works.

Maybe not all of the USB ports wired to the board and the cable is connected to the one not wired. Or audio is set to the onboard sound card instead of the Apollo.

Can you watch YouTube with the sound coming from the monitors connected to the interface? If yes, then you are fine.

Uninstalling and reinstalling didn't work. I bet it's the damn cable.

Clint, Apollo Interfaces require a thunderbolt 3 data speed qualified cable -which uses USB C as the connections -but they look identical to regular USB C cables -use the one that came with your Apollo if you can locate which one it is.

^ No, this is my unit. It uses a usb cable.

I'll keep that in mind. It used to say connecting apollo to computer now it just does an ascending 5th and then a sad sounding descending 5th. I'm like errrr ok.

What is your OS (operating system)? Mac or PC?
