Re: Interview with Reinhold Bogner. Amp pics.
I think that interview is several years old, but I just found it. He stated that the Metropolis was new, and that was a few years ago. The Uberschall probably came out after the interview. It is pretty genious the way he moved here with almost nothing, and next thing you know, he's making amps for Van Halen, G. Lynch, Cantrell, Vai, Queensryche etc. I remember going to the Shop they're talking about, where Andy Brauer's Makin Music was the store, and Reinhold's shop was in the back. At first, you could just walk in, look at all the top notch gear, and maybe play on something. After awhile, I'm sure they couldn't keep lookieloos out of there, so they made it an 'appointment only' location. The original Ecstasies, like the metalfront in my picture, the Fish Pre's, and the Hafler stuff was done there. Then, Andy Brauer moved, to Chicago I think, and Reinhold got a new location a few blocks away in N. Hollywood, where they are now. That's when the Canefront heads became standard, and the Shivas and others were born. I'm not sure, but it was around 97. The amps are so expensive, and get shipped all over the world, but honestly, I rarely see them come up for sale locally. Even though I live in the same area, they're still pretty rare here, too.
Reinhold said they made about 40 per month when the interview took place, but they probably make over 60 per month, now. Maybe a few more than that.
