"Duncan Forum Tinker Tone Set"

it looks like an Black plastic EMG box humbucker cover, but in this Tinker Tone Kit there a half dozen sets of coils,
and a handfull of different magnets, Take your choice the coils just snap right in to the connections that are self contained in the cover itself, and the magnets just snap in too..
So you can mix and match them to your taste and create different tones when you get bored..great for recording or finding that sound you seek, It helps you to dial in each guitars unique personalitys.. Join the online community and swap coils and magnets...

Disclamier. some coils and magnets will be sold sepratially as new ideas emerge..

just--kiddin--around here -- having fun with quick thought loose ideas

That doesn't sound like a bad idea, but I wonder how it would be made possible? The tone possibilities would be endless!

I want a 15k+ 1/4 inch flat pole piece alnico II single coil. Except that its epoxy potted with a brass baseplate. Warm dark, resonant and smooth.

I like it! You'd have to come up with some kind of mounting bracket so you can easily pop it in and out of the guitar. Can it come in a chrome cover?

How bout if the top surface of the cover snaps on and off like a cell phone type lid..maybe being able to offer chrome too.

Gotta go-- Flying off to Japan to go start designing the chassis.

I think that it's a great idea. I've always been partial to the idea of plug-in pickups of any type. Just think of the number of people who would never dream of installing their own p'ups, yet would buy more of them if they knew that they could just plug them into the base that's already installed in their guitar(s).

Re: Into the Future of pups we all must Gooooooooo

Donzo - On one hand, you pride yourself on knowing what it takes to make a great pickup, and then you come up with some great ideas you could probably patent and base a company on.......and I personally think you could!

On the other hand, you express that you've worked hard for others, to make them a lot of money, while being disgusted that they made the money, and you didn't, leaving you sh!t outta luck.

I have faith in you that you could take your ideas, keep your mouth sealed, spend some serious time with your winder, and take those great ideas like the Tinker Tone set, and cash in, retire in a few years, and sip martinis on the balcony of your 40 acre ranch, while an overseas company cranks out your well thought out creations! Just my 2 cents!

I agree with Jonesy. It's a hell of an idea that no-one has ever produced. There may be a good reason for that, there may not be. I don't know. I still believe that if someone produced a base that could be installed in a guitar that could accept different p'up plug-ins, it would make someone a very nice living.
