Hello all... 1st time poster here,.. 1st time anywhere actually. I can only get on line at work and until recently I didn't have much free time. Things are kind of slow now so I thought I'd give it a go.
Anyway,....I've been hanging around here a while now, maybe about a year whenever I can. I've never asked a question because I didn't need to. I'm very familiar with the search function (and anybody that says they did a search and "can't find anything". Well I just don't buy it.) so I figure a long overdue thanks is in order.
Thank you, you guys Rock!! :headbang: (You know who you are.) You definatly know your stuff around here! I found this forum never having done anything other than just a straight pickup swap and then couldn't get the new one to sound good because I didn't know how important the adjustment is. I swear,.. I've been playing electric guitar off and on for a long time (20 yrs) and have never been happy with a guitar til now. I've probably sold some nice guitars (gibby's, fenders, ibby's, 1 jackson in particular) because I thought they were crap and they probably just needed a good setup. :banghead:
Thanks to you I have rewired my guitars (several times) and fixed my friend's bass. I tried quite a few different wiring options and oddly enough, now that I have, my guitars are wired with staight CTS pots and Orange drops.
The real fun started the day I did my first magnet swap. I have done swaps in a JB, PGb, PGn, (2)CC, APHn, and a PCn and It truely is amazing haw many different tones are available with each pup/ mag combo. I even made a hybid just to see if i could and then swapped the coils back when I didn't like it. Worked every time. (I haven't played with de-guassing yet) Oh,...and thanks to John Wymore, great service and a nice guy! (and he had what I needed, and no, i don't know him personally)
I ended up with a C8/JB-3n in my MK patriot shadow (rocks hard) and a CC/APH2 combo in my Schecter griphon (cheapest one they make i think, and it now plays and sounds great). For the first time ever I have neck pups that sound good. I've never liked a neck pup and it took a while to settle on these but now I love my tone in all positions and I use my knobs alot... all of them, too!:cool2
thats a really big deal to me)
Thats all I'm going to write for now,.. I could go on (and on) but just wanted to hit the high points and say thanks
